Camille Pisarro for mike_in_new_orleans

Hello Mike - here's a pic of Camille in a vase. She's new to me this year. Planted as a young band from Amity in mid-May and has really hit her stride the last couple of months. This rose has put on so much growth since September that it resembles a 2-year old rose and right now she is full of blooms. Very little BS and I haven't sprayed because her brother, Henri Matisse, seemed to resent it and showed his displeasure by completely defoliating. Thusly I discontinued spraying both and they have remained BS-free without the Bayer, which is a big deal in my garden.

It seems the yellow may be more pronounced in warmer weather; it is now very cold (to me anyway...) here in Illinois. The rose is more cream and pink now rather than the yellow and pink which I have seen in July.

BTW, Henri makes a wonderful sibling!

Wow! Great picture! That is a beautiful rose. I worry about the spray issue, though. If I were to get this rose, I'd have no choice but to grow it right up next to others that definitely need spraying. I would hope it wouldn't resent it too much.

Mike, China Doll is growing right in front of Camille and it gets sprayed, so I'm sure there is overspray. Camille has never missed a step and I did spray her a couple of times, though. Maybe Henri was just sulking and didn't like the spray, or it got too hot when I sprayed that day. These roses are on the southside of the house in direct sun most of the day, and it can get pretty toasty.

Now that Camille is aging in the vase, the yellow is definitely showing.

If you want to order Camille, I was very happy with the size and health of the roses I received from Amity. Just get your order in early because this rose sells out fast.

BTW, Amity carries Henri. He is finally blooming and his one big fat bloom is ladeda beautiful! I can't wait until next year to see how these two bloom all summer long. I do so adore the Delbards.

How do you like your Wonderstripe? I've been so disappointed in mine, I've had it for 2 years and have gotten 1 (count it, 1!) undersized bloom. How long does it take an own-root to come around? Wow, that Abracadabra is gorgeous. I second the vote for Berries and Cream, it has been a wonderful rose for me, though its blackspot is really bad this year. I really want Careless Love, it's top of my list, its stripes are so broad and irregular it's almost more like splotches than stripes. Does anyone have any experience with Candy Land? Does it look as good as it does in pictures?

mgleason- Ha! Now I feel better. You had better hurry and order Camille from Amity before they run out. I have a real striped convention going. I have the three striped from RU, Henri Mattisse, Alfred Sisley and Julio Iglesias. I don't know why I didn't get Grimaldi. Then my Camille Pissarros from Amity. terry- I remember someone posted pictures of CAMILLE PISARRO here on the rose forum, last year or the year before. I thought it was the most beautiful rose I have ever seen. Never could quite get it out of my mind. I know I would like it ivory or yellow. I got two so I could put them in two different spots. I want them to grow fast!

Delbard's "Alfred Sisley" vs "Maurice Utrillo"

I still like my Alfred Sisley a lot, and also bought Maurice Utrillo, Camille Pisarro, and another really gorgeous striped Delbard ..I can't remember the name right now. The really gorgeous one is not as strong a grower. Will think of it in a minute. Anyway Maurice seems like a strong plant with good rebloom. Camille is doing pretty well too. I was given a cutting of Edgar Degas and it is a wonderfully healthy, vigorous plant. Not as orange as Alfred Sisley. Maurice Utrillo...more red than Alfred, probably more contrasty. Camille Pisarro Can have a softer look. Edgar Degas Oh, the one I couldn't remember is Marc Chagall. I think it's my favorite bloom but my particular plant is not doing that well. It would be worth trying again I think because it's so pretty. I bought it from Regan's, along with Maurice and Camille which are good plants. Marc Chagall I include these others because it can be good to see the differences in these striped Delbards. Rifis, I wish our local Home Depot had something beside Knockouts.
