Confused about Rock N Roll (Tango) Rose????

I went to the Portland Rose Garden this summer and saw a beautiful red and white striped rose, took pictures and then got onto HMF to see some other shots only to find a rose that does not resemble the rose I took pictures of. I did a web search and found one site that showed a red and white striped rose and then another site that showed a tomato, orangy red with yellow rose. I'm confused. Does anyone know anything about this or grow Rock N Roll? Here is a shot that I took.

That doesn't look like Rock N Roll. My R N R is a deep burgundy roll with white stripes with no pink. Your picture also looks more like a floribunda. Look up Peppermint Twist & Scentimental.

You both just spelled it wrong. There are three roses that have the name that is pronounced like "rock and roll."

The striped one has an ampersand "Rock & Roll."
The orange/red with yellow has an n "Rock 'n Roll."
The mini has the words all spelled out "Rock and Roll."

If you have credit to spend, Rock 'n' Roll is definitely worth the garden space. I agree that Neil Diamond has larger variegated blooms, but in my yard it doesn't bloom as often. I never seem to get the big blooms on R&R Pat and Kublakan have talked about, but mine blooms off and on all summer with a nice array of half-dollar sized blooms with pretty reliable variegation. It doesn't take a break in the heat of the summer, which isn't as bad as yours but we were mostly in the 90's and 100's most of the summer this year (it's still 85 through the end of September). Your criteria 2 is the hardest one. Most fragrant roses don't last more than one week in summer. If you drop this criterion you'll be able to enjoy some of the best smelling roses.

If I could piggy-back a question on the thread, anybody have any mildew susceptibility reports on Rock & Roll (red & white)???

I want to Rock & Roll all nite and party every day!
OOOps, got caught up in the long-a-go past for a moment. lol

Kstrong is right by the way and I like those striped blooms of Rock & Roll myself.

Hey, thanks for setting me straight on this. Sounds like the Portland Rose Garden may need to change their sign of this rose in their garden. Whenever I take photos of a particular rose, I also shoot the sign to make sure. Below is a link to the exact sign of the rose at the beginning of this thread. Bet that there have been some rosers who have already talked to the folks at the PRG about it, persnickety people that we are. . .Probably will myself when I go next.

At least now I know what to order and make sure next season. . .thanks to all!!
