Long shot - looking for rose I remember from childhood

I have never grown roses before, but I would like to plant a rose that my mother planted in my childhood backyard probably 40 years ago. It was a big shrub, probably 8'x4-5'. The roses where huge, soft pink, with rounded, densly packed petals. You could not see the centers. They were probably 4-5" across and extremely fragrant. I picked them for her every mother's day. With her health now failing, I would like to plant one in my yard to remember those times. The rose thrived in So. Cal, but I now live in zone 5. I have done a search for pink roses and the Nancy Steen rose seems like it might be it, but I can find very little info on this rose. Can anyone give me any other suggestions?

Also, we will be going back to my hometown in Oct. If I could get a cutting, is there anyway I could bring it home with me and actually hope for it to survive, assuming it would work in my zone (and they haven't chopped down the bush)? Thanks for any advice and suggestoins.
