I just noticed...

Went out last evening to cut roses to take to work, and realized that the only roses really blooming right now for me are Abraham Darby, Golden Celebration and Wife of Bath, all David Austins. Interesting... especially when two miles south of me at the Earthkind test gardens, pretty much everything was covered in blooms! Since I have quite a few of the same roses as in the test gardens, it makes me wonder what I'm doing wrong! Is it the deadheading, am I giving too much water, babying them too much? I will say that many of the roses I have are young, and don't know if that makes a difference or not.

Any thoughts?

How young? Don't roses take a couple years to really reach their stride?

Youth makes a difference. Not only that, 2 miles can make a difference too.

Well.... I'm no expert but if you have a sprinkler system you should see black plastic circles about 1" diameter buried right at the surface all over your lawn. Also, there should be a timer somewhere, perhaps in the garage.

Westbourne Homestead is very pretty, but, so is the yellow one, too.I have found out just how hard it is to get rid of Morning Glories.I planted some purple ones about 4 years ago so they would grow up and down my fence out front.When I found out how they wouldn't stay on the fence and was growng up and down my roses,and anything else I didnt want them on,I started pulling them off the fence,and pulled up every one I seen,and I steadly been pulling them up for about 4 yrs and they are still trying to take over everything they get close to..I even sprayed some ROUNDUP BRUSH KILLER on them last year and thought now they wont be back.WRONG, they are still popping up every where. Yes, 56 processes in the background. XP is known for having a lot of background processes running. Some of the processes are normal operating system stuff. If you want to know what a process is then put it in Google. The Answers That Work website maintains a great list. Find out what you can shut down and what you need. If you have the same sun exposure, it's probably youth. Young roses and roses getting less sun than they want may be focussing on vegetative growth late in the season.

Thanks for your thoughts, they make a lot of sense! My David Austins have been in a long time, which I had not taken into consideration, so at this point I'm going to go with the roses being young. The roses at the test gardens were totally out in the open with full sun all day; mine get about 7-8 hours of full sun a day so don't think that is the problem, and I will say my older climbers on the fence get a huge bloom in the spring and a decent bloom in the fall.
