Cut back DdB before giving her away?

I'm happy on two counts. I'm getting a 2- or 3-gallon LeVesuve on Sunday to replace Duchesse de Brabant. And DdB has a home to go to. But I need help to get her out of the ground as safely as possible. She's 5x5. I don't know if I should cut her back or leave her as she is, knowing she'll have lots of dieback that can later be removed. I'll be putting her in a 20-gallon pot, so I'll cut her roots as big as possible. Notice I didn't say rootball. Getting an intact rootball in my sandy soil is nye on impossible. She will basically be bare root, and I will fill around her with soil. I wish I had some composted horse manure. All I have is bagged cow manure compost. I could go buy some Fafard potting soil (don't know what # they carry) if you think that would be a good idea. Any advise would be greatly appreciated. Rose friend, Susan, is anxious to welcome her home.
