Syrphid Fly/Early Fall/No. Calif.?

My young Cecile Brunner is sporting a number of new buds, and although I never saw any aphids this Summer, in the Spring CB was like a magnet for them, and they are BACK! The buds and the stems below the buds are covered with them. In the Spring, I toughed it out and waited for predators, and, lo, they came - Syrphid Fly larvae vacuuming up aphids almost overnight. So gratifying. But it didn't occur to me that the aphids would return in the Fall - my question is: If I wait it out again, will Syrphid Flies again come to my rescue (or CB's rescue), or are they strictly creatures of the Spring? Thanks,

Laura
