Slater's Crimson China

I'm looking for a more vigorous clone of Slater's Crimson China.

I've babysat the one I've got for about eight years and this year the stems have decreased from pencil width to toothpick width. It's never reached the potential 3foot height HMF says is possible. It's never reached the petal count that the HMF images show.

Yes, it has been easy to weed around. And over. And it's stayed petite enough to have only a very few thorns. But I expect this winter to do it in.

The rest of the chinas we have do very well in our zone, so I don't think it's a zone issue. But I'd love to see the deep red colors that I think some Slater's can produce on nice sized bushes.

Your recommendations for a better clone, please.
