Barbara, I have both and find that Marie Daly is definitely more pink. It is also much more mildew prone in my garden, so much that I've been tempted to sp it. Right now it is earning a reprieve, looks healthy, and has cute pink blooms. My two Marie Pavies are much bigger, healthier, bloom more and are white with sometimes a blush of pink. I think Mrs. R.M. Finch is a good pink polyantha that would contrast nicely with your Little White Pets. It's also hard to beat Clotilde Soupert when it doesn't ball and it has enough pink in it to contrast.

I would agree with Linda, but Mrs. RM will fade to white in full sun. Natalie Nyples also fades some but maintains more pink coloring than Mrs. RMF. Just MO. Both need spraying for disease.

Marie Daly is from Countryside Roses, and Marie Pavie is from Long Ago Roses. Both are fairly newly planted, so I can't talk too much about their habits or disease resistance yet -- I spray fungicide, FYI.

Marie Daly is a sport of Marie Pavie. They look like the correct blooms to my eye.

The 3 new bushes are establishing nicely, and your responses confirm my suspicion that we received Marie Pavie from RU, not Marie Daly. We are not spraying fungicides in our antique garden at the arboretum which does lead to some problems this time of year. Blush Noisette in the center of this bed surrounded by the polyanthas is clean. I'm not inclined to even ask RU to replace these, but I think I'll let them know that this happened. I like the way our Marie is wafting her scent on the breeze-- together with Blush Noisette-- makes it a pleasure to work in this gardne! Thanks y'all.

I bought 2 Marie Pavies and 2 Marie Daleys from ARE and planted them around the end of Dec, 2007. MP got bigger - easily twice as big. Neither did well here from the beginning IMHO, but MP has done better. MD's color was pink in the bud, barely pink upon opening, and whitish thereafter. Very little difference from MP. They both have suffered from tan leaves, not exactly BS, but sickly looking and very little blooming through the summer. I tried to move the MDs to pots, but they croaked in short order. Maybe my thumbs aren't as green as they need to be. The weather is becoming cooler, and it shows. MP has more flowers, bigger leaves - though still a good many tan leaves. I'm not real pleased with them, but they are young.

My opinion of the EarthKind rating is that it may be irrelevant in humid conditions - which much of Texas is not. We'll see now that our humidity is about to break how MP does, but we will never have 10 or 20 percent humidity in Florida! All of this that I have described may be summer dormancy, too. Most everything in my garden (Teas, HMs, GaA & even Chinas - except Monsieur Tillier) dropped their leaves and stayed bare for more than a month in August & September.

I am really hoping that with maturity will come the ability to handle the heat better. But back to Marie Daley...I was unimpressed.

I grow both.
Mine are identical in every way EXCEPT that Marie Daly is definitely a light pink compared to my Marie Pavie which is pretty much pure white.
Same good disease resistance in my garden.
Same fragrance.
Same plant size and shape.
In my opinion, Marie Daly is merely a sport of Marie Pavie, which is to say the ONLY difference between the two is the color of their blooms.
Also, in my opinion, any differences in disease resistance is merely cultural or due to the micro-climate / soil composition of the specific garden placement.
