Perfume in the bedroom

I put a vase full of my most fragrant roses on the nighstand yesterday and I noticed with I turned on the lamp to read last evening the heat from the light bulb makes the rose give off the most delicious perfume while I was ready. Does it get any better!

Clotilde Soupert? I guess in a hot sun position there is no chance for her to ball and her fragrance is great. Jardins de Bagatelle - my two plants never reached 4 ' tall but the perfume! - now of course maybe someone from California can contradict me by saying that there this rose is 7' tall but let's wait till this happens :-( Amazing Grace aka Myriam (you would need two, because it takes time for the huge blooms to develop and open) - I don't see height measurement anywhere except at Heirloom Roses they say: 4-5'. I doubt the 5' but maybe in Texas :-)) In any case the fragrance of this rose is awesome and it needs sun to open those huge blooms because it has so many petals. Comte de Chambord I have no idea how well it does in Texas how well it repeats but it certainly very fragrant and it is not a tall rose.

Clean it (exterior) first with Formby's cleaner (has a strong wintergreen scent). Then do the RAF. I bought a pristine Drexel BR set from an estate, it was a the garage in cold weather so I didn't catch it, but when I got it home the inner drawers reeked of stale perfume and fabric softener so badly it nearly knocked me over. (It was bad, very strong, I couldn't put my clothes in drawers for a month.) I washed interiors it with a damp cloth and a mixture of just a bit of dish detergent and water on the inside, then wiped lightly with the Formby's wintergreen cleaner. Too cold to air it out outside. But what I also did (and what I think truly got rid of it), was use about 5 jars of Natural Magic Odor Absorber in citrus. I love that stuff and use it in the room where the dog's beds are and near cat's litter box, etc. When I put it in the drawers, I alternated between closing them tightly for a few days and then leaving them open just a couple inches so it was able to pull in odor from behind the drawer cavity. It's a huge set and I had 3 for the dresser and 2 for the armoire and rotated them around inside each piece every few days. Took about 3 weeks, but it completely got rid of all her perfume and fabric softener smell. ;)

Bedside tables...Matching Bedroom Lamps?

Thanks Ladies, I have nothing in the house that matches, since I was doing matching end tables, I thought I should match the lamps. I have them up on my end tables now, and the one I chose for me is more delicate and the one for Cliff is more "manly" LOL...So if i don't find the mate to mine (it's the one I really love) I can live with the mismatched lamps.. Please more opinions are welcomed. If I get a chance, I'll take some pics of the lamps for a sneak preview. We finished the drapes and cornices and I love it. Hubby does all the sewing cause we have a big commercial machine and I make him nervous when I sew. The speed is very fast and hard to control and I sew with my fingers close to the foot. He doesn't want to make the trip to the emergency ward when I put the needle through my finger. I also have a wicker chair that I want to make new pillows for, as well and refinishing the antique wash stand. Lots to do... Mitchdesi, how big are your end tables? I also have ecclectic look -- pecan furniture and a wicker and iron headboard. I now want a British Colonial feel to the bedroom... I currently have wicker end tables that are about 22" high and 21" x 21" so the big tables are going to be a leap.

it is and sorry for not having it made up as it would have looked lots better. I am not happy with the color but due to some health issues it had to wait. I seen an idea about something behind the area where the lamps are that draws your eye up . They used mirrors but what about something else? Or do you think with different lamps with shades will make a better impact as I have to clean clean clean so dont want too many things that isn't able to be wiped down.

Sounds lovely!

In our home, vases must be set where naughty kitty cats cannot get to them.

I'm envious of you, relaxing right next to those fragrant beauties.

Petaloid and I have the same type of kitties. There's nothing on my night stand but a lamp (a heavy, alabaster one) my alarm clock and a tissue box. Anything else hits the floor during one of my cat's morning wake-up-the-mommy routine. On the bright side, it helps keep the clutter under control. LOL

What a humorous blooper....very very funny....LOL

I have about 2 dozen Neptunes in a vase on the dining room table and it is so powerful, I love it so much, I wish I could walk around with a bloom stuck to my nose all day, it smells so wonderful!

I'm thoroughly embarrassed, but not angry. I thought I had learned my lesson about editing (lord knows I got hit over the head hard enough)but I noticed I spelled strength wrong on another post. Sigh

Harsh fragrances such as perfumes and air fresheners should be avoided. If you prefer a relaxing fragrance, try soy or beeswax candles scented with essential oils. You can also keep a container of dried lavender or natural incense sticks in the room.
