Just my experience in a similar climate for these:

Abraham Darby(med to large with pruning)
Dove(med)
Falstaff(sky reacher)
Gertrude Jekyll(sky reacher but blooms better with pruning)
Golden Celebration(another sky reacher that I hard prune))
Happy Child(small but will shoot some longer canes)
Mary Rose(large but containable)
Molineux(med)
Pat Austin(med to large..resents hard pruning)
Sharifa Asma(med)
Teasing Georgia(sky reacher but doesn't mind hard pruning to contain)

The only Austin I grow I would consider truly "small" is Miss Alice. Glamis Castle would possibly qualify but it's been a long time since I grew that one.
The ones I've marked med are at least 5' here.

Here is a bush shot of Pat Austin, if it helps. I do prune mine back to about 3 ft every spring and I pruned it back to self supporting canes from the time I planted it so it wouldn't flop.

Abe Darby can be kept to 5-6 feet and is a large bush. I have a bush shot somewhere but I will have to look for it.

Abe Darby wants to be a sky reacher in CA, but can be contained, I've pruned my 2 plants to be nice shrubs in the 5 ft range. Originally I planned on growing it as a climber, but changed my mind.

Glamis Castle is fairly compact and stays below 4 ft (I prune it moderately each season, but am fairly indiscriminate when deadheading so it basically gets a light pruning all year round).

My Chris Marlowe has not reached its full size yet, but compared to others it is a smaller, shrubbier plant. A friend had one that was older and left unpruned got to 4-5 feet in 3 years. Mine is 2 years old and about 3 feet. I did not prune it the first year so it got kinda leggy and sprawly. Will prune harder this year to get a more shapely plant.

I have a young Teasing Georgia who threw out some long canes in its first year, it is now in the shade of a rapid growing lemon tree and is sulking. So can't really say what it would do with appropriate sun exposure.

YMMV given the climate differences.

My Lillian Austin can get quite large and Jude also. I've found that pruning again in summer helps. My Jude was 7 feet tall and 5 wide, mature.
I'm sure Golden Celebration would spread as Kaye said.
Crown Princes is still young and lanky. I can't say what it's actual growth habit is, sorry I couldn't help more.

Lillian Austin - on the smallish side but sending out some taller canes this fall.
Mary Rose - 5 x 6 - really prospering this year
Molineux - this one is about 4 ft. I drive by my old house to see it every so often. Gardeners sheer it to look like an upright egg so I don't know what it would be doing if it stayed with me.
Pat Austin - 4 x 4 with much less pruning this year. Blooming lots too.
Teasing Georgia - Big one - I gave mine away when it was 6 x 6

Give The Generous Gardener plenty of room, it is a garden pig. It is 6 X 6 in a year's time. The Herbalist is 3 X 3 after three years. Lilian Austin has been moved two times in two years and is 3 X 3.

TGG does not want to get wide in my garden. It stays about 8 ft tall x 2 ft wide. I'm wondering if I don't really have TGG. Do you have any pictures of yours?

well connie i had a similar predicament a week or so ago when i got my vintage order. i had 15 climbers to go in a space. I decided to use the random method. dig the holes, and gather them at random, putting by a hole and planting them, then going back through and writing their names down and what hole they are in. i didn't have to overthink anything and i will be surprised and no preconception of how things ought to look.lol.

I sort of know now how each of these roses will behave, so I'll arrange them accordingly and take my chances -- next week. With as many roses as I have, I'm trying to avoid too many pruning battles or playing Musical Chairs with the roses as they overgrow their neighbors.

Hey Connie:

I grow Molineux, Mary Rose and Crown Princess Margareta.

My Molineux did reasonably well this year in far too much shade. Much taller than last year at about four feet high. Part of that could be due to stretching for the sun. Next year when I move it to a sunnier locale I'll probably keep it trimmed more. For now I'd call it medium.

Mary Rose in light sun is say 3.5 x 3.5 feet. Cut back hard twice this summer and is blooming now. I love this rose.

Crown Princess Margareta is new this year and is bigger than both Molineux and Mary Rose. Many canes, all long. I should have cut it back harder about a month ago but hated to because of all the blooms and the fact that its new. I'd put it in the back unless you want to keep it trimmed or wish to put it on a shortish trellis. Good rebloom.

I've thought it would be fun to do theme groups of the Austins, maybe with a bust of the author or a podium, or a collection of antique garden tools for G. Jeckyll, etc.

I have a bench of cast concrete that is in the form of two stacks of books with a large book for the seat. It would be perfect for an Austen-themed garden -- the other Austen, of course.
