Belinda's Dream is great for Texas, but in the northeast it gets more fungus disease, is of doubtful winter-hardiness, and suffers from rotting flowers in cool wet weather. I really like Mother of Pearl, which is peachy pink with a pleasant fragrance to my nose. It is very hardy and disease resistant. The cut flowers last longer than any rose I have grown. If you want super fragrance, the best bet would be The McCartney Rose. Disease resistant pale yellows with some fragrance are Irish Hope and Prairie Sunrise. In general, Buck roses aren't all that hardy. There are a few exceptions, like Applejack, but most are just crown hardy here. Disease resistance also isn't reliable. Hawkeye Belle had horrible problems with blackspot. Country Dancer is reasonably healthy, but less than 2 ft tall after about 7 years. Parkland roses are also problematic for blackspot. They are from a cold but dry prairie climate, and often struggle in the east. Morden Centennial was asked to leave at the same time as Hawkeye Belle, and for the same reason. Quadra is new last year, so it's hard to say what the final size and shape will be. Get it grafted. It doesn't seem to want to grow own-root. Seafoam looks to grow about 6 ft canes. Whether that is long enough for what you want, I don't know. The trick with the new trellis is going to be finding a rose the right size. A monster will eat the gate, a wimp won't do much of anything. My Quadra is in a similar situation, and I'm hoping it doesn't outgrow the spot. Captain Samuel Holland is exactly the right rose, but it's down the row a bit and I don't feel like moving it. John Davis is another possibility, and maybe Clair Matin.

Have you had Aronia berries before? personally i don't like the taste of them so i wouldn't recommend them. The Romance series of cherries are naturally dwarf and can resemble a bush, they are also good for fresh eating as well as juice and baking. A Chicago Hardy fig could be very rewarding if you protect it over the winter. I have one here in Zone 5, and the figs are absolutely delicious. Goji berries are not great raw. What people eat from the store is usually dried and tossed in sugar to make it seems sweet. Raw, they have a bit of a tomato flavor to them (they are actually in the same family as tomatoes). Goumi berries have the benefit of being a nitrogen fixer, so it can help nearby plants. But i wouldn't grow it just for the fruit if space is limited. Personally i like the elderberries that i have fresh. Unfortunately i don't know the specific variety that i have, so it would be a roll of the dice to buy a plant and it end up only good for juice/jam. Honeyberries, raspberries, blackberries, gooseberries, currants (i would recommend black), and strawberries are all going to be solid, standard choices. Just from within these types, there are so many varieties that you can get a good diverse harvest each year. Strawberries also make a great boarder plant, so you can plant your bushes and do a line of strawberries in front of them (assuming the sunlight is there) to maximize the space.

Thanks vaporvac! JL like most climbers has a heavy flush of blooms in June, and sporadic thereafter. It can get pretty tall with beautiful pink flowers. I've had mine for at least 15 years. There's another climber that blooms for a long time in my garden and it's Super Excelsa. It starts blooming later in the season, but it continues blooming right up until frost.
