I have Mlle de Sombreuil, which I just planted this summer. Its flowers are so beautiful and refined you will be very pleased. Every other rose you have ordered is one I have wanted too, so our tastes overlap completely. I don't have the others, so I cannot tell you about Chromatella's growth habit. I like the same roses you like.

I love Sombreuil. I got mine from J&P. It was planted last year and is now about 6 feet wide. I'm going to train it up a fence and arbor. What I love most about it is now when I go out the gate, I am greeted with a lovely scent. It's not half bad looking either. I do spray to keep it bs free.

I'm afraid I can't help you with your choices, the only one I have is Angel's Camp Tea which I just received from Vintage. I just wanted to say that it always makes me feel better when someone else can't resist ordering roses, even when common sense may tell you otherwise. Fortunately there are many on this forum who, like me, order roses when they have no idea where to put them or feel guilty about the expense. I wonder if we're addicted. If so, it's the most wonderful addiction I can imagine.

We planted Mlle de Sombreuil next to Sombreuil, the climber, in the Sacramento cemetery this year. So far, it's just a baby, but like Jerome, I'm taken with it. Can't comment on its mature size, of course.

We had Chromatella but it succumbed to crown gall. I'd really like to try it again, and we are saving a spot on our fence to plant it. There's a found version that B&B nursery used to carry, "Dr. Hinman," which we may be able to get.

I also hope to get Angel's Camp Tea for the cemetery. One of these days, we're going to run out of space - but for now, there is still room, thank goodness!

I'm so lucky that I have an outlet for these acquisitive urges, and can plant roses in the cemetery rather than trying to cram them into my garden. Your list sounds wonderful. Yes, we are all addicted.

Buford, the Sombreuil the climber that J& P sells is actually not the same rose as Mlle de Sombreuil, tea rose. (And Mlle de Sombreuil is often mistakenly listed as Le Biche noisette!)

I kind of figured that I wouldn't be able to get a good indication of size, because these are roses that I havne't heard people talk about much.
Since these are bands, should I put them in the greenhouse over winter? I've lost roses in pots before, especially the ones that had just been rooted.
OR would they be just as protected if I went ahead and put them in the ground? Usually with bands I grow them in a pot for a while to make sure that they WILL grow! And that any death isn't my fault!

My three year old Gruss an Coburg is medium-sized, a little more than 3' x 3'. The good---it's a very generous bloomer and gets lots of comments from visitors. The bad---sometimes it looks a little disreputable while shedding leaves between flushes.

I bet you'll love yours.

Carrie, did you get confirmation for all your roses? I have had trouble with ordering something, and them telling me, OOps we don;t have it, after all! Very annoying!

I did get confirmation, they are being shipped next week.
I've had problems with that before. They are actually sending me 2 next week that I ordered and paid for this spring.
But I've looked for these roses everywhere, Vintage is the only one who has them, and I just thank God that Vintage is in business and keeps all of these roses on the market.
One good thing about Vintage's website is that if one of their roses is not available then you can request an email when they become available. That's what I had done with all of the roses on this list. Then the day I got the email I went ahead and ordered because I don't want anyone else to scoop them up!

Speaking of it being a wonderful addiction ... It really is. And even with 3 orders from Vintage this year, I'm still spending less money than I've seen my friends spend on one shopping trip for clothes which are outdated within a year or two! Also less money than 1 month worth of bar tab! And if I keep the roses watered, they will be around for the rest of my life. That's a lot of enjoying that I'll get for that little bit of expense!

I have Mme. Bravy, Marie Legonde and Gruss an Coberg. The first two are still babies but I can tell you that the blooms on Marie Legonde smell almost as good as Devoniensis to my nose and I normally can't "get" the tea scent. Gruss is a pretty blend of colors and has done pretty well own root. She makes a respectable but not huge bush. Mine is approx. 4-5 ft by 2-3 ft after several years.
