I bought one 2 years ago for a customer of mine and I thought it was a HT but it is actually more like a shrub rose. It's not very tall but this is only the 2nd year. It is getting fuller, seems like a cross between a rambling grandiflora/shrub rose.

Were you planning on planting them 3 in a row to make 1 big hedge? 12 feet might not be enough space come next year or the year after that.

After three years, mine is about 4 feet across and about 3 feet high. It keeps growing all season--even when in a full-blown flush, new shoots are forming. It is a very full and happy looking rose in my hot zone 9 spot. Of course, it lasts longer in under 90 degree weather. I think your spot will be fine for the 3 of them. You can always prune back when deadheading if needed. Enjoy them! A really great rose.

Thank you both for sharing your experience with Cinco de Mayo! In my case, the width of this shrub is what I must be mindful of. I do plan to plant them in a row (hedge) and, although I do want them to be rather close, I do want to allow them adequate space for each shrub to maintain its integrity. Perhaps five-foot centers will be adequate?

There is a Cinco de Mayo in my neighborhood. It is about 5 years old. It is about 6 ft high and 4 ft wide. I think 5 ft centers would be plenty. I might even plant them closer - maybe 4 ft. That way they could intermingle and look more like a hedge. Good Luck!
