YAAAAY Gregg helped me find it and I ordered it via email. I wasn't searching for the exact name properly. I think I got Mme. Dore which I'd been wanting to get for a while since Ingrid liked it so much. You can't find it anywhere else as far as I can tell. so YAY!

Aimee, I'm so glad you ordered Mme. Dore! I don't think you'll regret it unless Bourbons don't do well in your area. I have two of her and wouldn't mind more. It's going to be fun to follow the progress of yours and compare notes.

I wish I'd known Greg was going to have all these new roses available. Not too long ago I ordered 12 from other vendors and don't have enough room for them, not to speak of any more. I would have certainly ordered Cl. Lady Hillingdon and La France had I known they'd be available this fall.

Ingrid, you know how I have your back. I just wanted to let you know that while Cl. LH & LF are available on the fall list, they won't ship until Spring 2011.

Therefore, you can freely order them anyway with a clean conscience - you never know what might happen in the yard in the meantime, gophers, falling bits of ice from airplanes, random events of hail (don't laugh, we just had golfball-sized hail in WW last week).

Aimee, it was on the list for some time but yesterday I noticed it was gone. I think it's in great demand and you pretty well have to order something as soon as it comes up. I hope I haven't waited too long with Cl. Lady Hillingdon. I just couldn't make up my mind but now that I have I hope I haven't left it too late. I think the popular ones go like hot cakes while some of the others seem to stay forever.

I think I pretty much ordered as soon as it went up (that morning), but apparently they had trouble with the crop and didn't have as many as they thought they had? Because Gregg had added it to my order, but then later, they said they didn't have it after all. :(

Oh, what a pity, Aimee; I wasn't aware of the crop failure. It's a small rose and maybe not easy to propagate. I wonder if he'll have it in the spring. I hope you do get one. I don't know why so few places offer its. I'm trying to find the SdlM sport, Capitaine Dyel de Graville, and its the same story, no one has it. I guess we'll just have to be patient and not give up.

At the end of their latest availability list, Vintage added this message:

"CANT FIND A ROSE YOU ARE HOPING TO ORDER?
In October 2011 we will update this list with the remaining varieties that we have propagated and can accept orders
on for shipping in the spring of 2011. Many hundreds more varieties will be released for shipping between March
and June of 2011. Upcoming in that list you will find Hybrid Teas and Floribundas, Old European Roses like
Gallicas, Albas, and Damasks."

You could always send them an e-mail to inquire about particular varieties that you are interested in.

The best thing to do would be to email Gregg to find out. Although he must be insanely busy, he's always been good getting back to me.

I opened the David Austin roses page and there were 79 varieties, but alas not English Elegance.

Nevertheless, that'a as many Austins as I've ever seen anywhere at one time.

Maybe you can find someone in another state willing to accept your shipment and then send it on.

Aren't plant shipping restrictions usually put in place in order not to import agricultural pests, such as nematodes, insects, etc. to areas that don't have them? If that is the case here, your idea to go around the system is not a sound one for the rest of us as well as our state agriculture.

Actually, as to Florida and California, it is more a matter of the war between our two citrus industries, or so I've heard.

Rather than deal with speculation (my bad) or hearsay (your bad) I looked it up. The National Plant Board has a useful website for this purpose. Here is a link for all states:

Thanks for the info, lagomorphmom. I would have never tried to circumvent the laws in this way because so much damage has been done by foreign pests and even exotic animals (such as the pythons in Florida) being released by careless practices. Sooner or later this rose will become available to me, and if not I'm sure life will go on for me without too much trauma. I'm grateful that we still have many other rare and beautiful roses to choose from, although it's not certain how much longer this will be the case with the demise of one on-line nursery after another.

Well, ok. Maybe you could offer to pay her for cuttings, taken at least 12 inches above the ground, and then just root them yourself? Seems that would comport with all of that.
