Baldo says, it is imperative that you contact the Dept. of Agriculture for your County IMMEDIATELY. There is every probability that this is NOT Japanese Beetles -- BUT there is a chance that it IS. And if it is, the County must be made aware. Please don't delay. Contact them ASAP. Then, we will ALL know for sure. It is B A L D O V I L L E G A S. Use his name when you call Ag. They should know that name. (God knows, all of the Ag people in MY County know him.) He has now retired, but he was for years the State's top Entomologist, and he still consults for them.

I think that's a great place for a gallery wall. If you use all black frames (and you don't have to... examples to follow), AVOID these looks, which say "I bought a dozen Ribba frames at Ikea like JudyBlogger did..." or "Shutterstock template in 1 day!" Another "don't" in my book: These looks are so ubiquitous. The only thing missing here is a giant initial of the family's last name. I don't understand photos on the stairway--I'd trip and fall looking at them--but this is probably in a private area of the home anyway, not a public hall like yours.

Can you post a picture of the back of your house? What about white windows? Maybe paint the portico posts and porch railings white as well? The first image is similar. That might allow you to use the black door if you really like the look of a black door. Not sure how it would look with keeping the soffit color the same, but just throwing out ideas! The second image is a house with similar colors as yours, with a black door, which looks nice too. Granted, both houses have shutters and your home is not conducive to adding shutters.

I have the same exact noise in my bedroom. At first I thought it was the radiator, but it made that noise when the heat was off. I'm looking at my heavy wood chest of drawers, suspiciously. Perhaps it is just would behind the wall. It wakes up my toddler.
