I remembered the second I read it, thanks!) Elisabeth, nice to see that you spell your name "right." LOL Sorry for any confusion, but the name of the rose is "The Elisabeth," just added a capital to the world "Rose" afterwards, because it was the title of the post. Then again, with a name like Elisabeth Rose, yeah, I'd have to have a rose with my name, too, if one existed. LOL I feel the need to tell you who my Mom was, but, well, kind of hard to write just a little bit about Mom. I figure that's probably true for anyone's Mom, whether they were good or bad mothers. Gonna try anyway, feeling nostalgic enough about her to want that rose so badly now! My Mom was the good kind -- a stay-at-home mother, simply because she lived in a time when that was expected. I don't think keeping the house clean was her thing, however, she did it 9 hours a day 7 days a week to the point that the tops of doorways never had dust on them, and including canning and making jams and jellies from the fruit trees in our backyard and Dad's vegetable garden. She was almost always home for us, but after dinner, when we were studying, she was doing her other joys in life -- volunteer work for, literally, every single cause available in our dinky little town from helping with all the scouting programs (Cubs, Weavils, Boy's, Brownies AND Girl's), helping to develop that new program "Head Start," in our community, being the lady at the voting booths at every election, and substituting for any position needed at our Catholic school -- teacher to librarian to lunch lady. Strangely, it wasn't until she left my Dad and was close to death from cancer less then a year later, that I learned from my uncle (her "little" brother, and a successful entrepreneur in his own right) that she had the mind and abilities to run a large corporation, had life worked out differently for her. (She was second generation female college graduate - I'm third, my niece is about to be fourth - and Mom's grandmother did own a jewelry store, which was an odd occupation for an Amish woman.) Of course, had life worked out differently for her, I wouldn't be telling you about her. ;) Of course, generally speaking, I got all the bad qualities of both parents, so wear glasses, have poker straight hair with enough collicks to make it silly looking, and even managed to get my first gray hair in my early 20s also. We also both had the ability to kill air plants, but wanted a garden so badly, we kept trying. She rarely got the expected results of her labor, but she didn't have the time I now have to study hard to get that "natural" green thumb. LOL Obviously, she had to have been a people person, so I have that wallflower ability of my Dad! ;) (I am a good writer, but awkward in person, until I get to know you -- then you WISH I was still quiet. LOL) Only in the last 10 years have I been scaring myself, when I get a glimpse of my outfit or notice that weird hobby I seemed to have picked up from no where (gardening), do I see that, "for Pete's sake," (one of her favorite expressions), I have become my Mom! Thankfully, different time period, so did end up working for myself, before becoming disabled. Then again -- my house is always a mess, (not a trait from either parent -- both were/are clean freaks), BUT I can actually grow stuff occasionally in my garden. LOL One trait I did pick up from her that was actually a good quality -- we don't give up on life, no matter what cards have been dealt. Three days before she died, she asked for a priest to give Last Rites. (Not sure of spelling -- changed churches decades ago.) After he finished, she looked at him completely seriously and added, "Oh, by the way. This doesn't mean I'm giving up! I'm still going to fight." She did, until the bitter end. There is absolutely no logic in me gardening. My hubby is disabled, too, and between the two of us, we have the strength and physical abilities of a 7 year old! LOL Despite this, every winter, I'm reading about how to do it, and what kinds of plants I want to try the following summer. Every spring, I can find only about 6 hours a week to work on the garden, and end up sowing my last seeds 6 weeks too late. And, every Independence Day, we find ourselves sitting out back, right before starting up the grill, (or before running in as the toreential rain hits LOL) looking around and saying, "Holy crap! It's absolutely gorgeous out here!" LOL That rose has two sentimental memories for me -- my Uncle Marshall was/is (last I heard, he went to his son's funeral. His son died from old age, at 80, 10 years ago. If Uncle Marshall is still alive, he's 108) even a bigger character then my Mom!

As I implied it is one of the main fungicides against Phytopthora spp. Also against some blights. Another is Mefenoxam (e.g. Subdue Maxx, also fights Pythium sp., no clue if this affects roses). But really, one needs to have a fair idea about what one's fighting against to select appropriate fungicides and bactericides as well as application protocols. I don't believe anyone of authority would recommend blindly regularly applying a variety of fungicides in the hope that one might help... Maybe you should perform a test to a few of your roses. Maybe you should send some diseased specimens to a lab for identification first, if you feel the situation requires such interventions. Maybe you should also consider your health. Be warned that some active ingredients, including fosetyl-Al (Aliette), should not be applied in tandem with copper.

Speaking of the northern Earthkind trials, they really could at least let people know why no details have been released. There were six places involved in the trial. Colorado was the farthest west and Minnesota was the furthest north I think. Then there was Iowa and can't remember the rest. There were 3 separate sets of roses Kordes, Earthkind and Northern Earthkind. Not a word has been released. All of my inquires have been directed to Dr. Ziesak and that goes nowhere. It's annoying! Isn't the NYBG kind of warm. On the line of 6b and 7a it's not really my I idea of cold. Cream Veranda is excellent here. I'm loving my new this year Carl Ploberger.
