This Heuchera is a blooming machine in my mt. garden.
Comments (9)I always amend planting areas with compost as our mountain soils (gravel?), while well drained, are lacking in organic matter and nutrient holding capacity. My garden is just coming out from under a layer of snow. There is evidence of vole activity in the garden this winter and I fear my Heuchera 'Canyon Duet' may have been a victim of the dastardly creatures. It will be several more weeks before I know for sure. I may have to get a military drone with night vision and go after those suckers. I will re-plant it again as it has been the best blooming cultivar for my conditions....See MoreThe Faun is Turning Out to be a Very Nice Rose
Comments (8)Hi again Ingrid, I've been posting sporadically. When my roses are blooming, I post more often. But I usually check in to see what is going on every few days. Been watching all the weather woes on the entire West Coast of N. America, drought in your neck of the woods, fires, unseasonal heat and prolonged drought up in Western Canada. Rain and big storms in the south and mid west. Here we are having a slightly cooler summer with ample rain, albeit after two very long cold winters in a row. I've got one of the best garden seasons of my life happening here in the great white north. I've kept track of all the drought issues you are having with your garden and you have my sympathy and prayers for an end to the heat and drought on your side of the continent. I'll take a few cold winters over hot summer drought conditions anytime. Seems very strange and somewhat disconcerting that I'm having one of the best rose seasons ever while you guys in rose heaven are struggling. All the best and hang in there. Cheers, Rick...See MoreMore blooming everyday
Comments (13)Thank you so much! I always enjoy your beautiful roses! Judy, both my JC roses are looking really good right now, it seems to do so good for most, but at times has been iffy for me. I think it has more to do with me and not JC. I love the blooms! Jasmine and April. Poseidon is proving to be a very good rose, love it! Altorama and Carol, I'm liking Grande Dame more every year, it's proving to be a very good rose, and it has a great fragrance too! Carol, thank you. These first Pink Peace blooms don't quite meet my expectations, I'm used to them having a more translucent look, you are so sweet! Big Momma has a good fragrance for me, the rose has gone down hill, since last year, it might get the shovel if it doesn't improve!...See MoreThe fairy and the faun.
Comments (17)Huh - goes to show zone 5 is not zone 5 is not zone 5 lol - location really matters. The Fawn has overwintered well here - a few inches of surviving cane, same for the Fairy. Typically not great snow cover here but very cold. One Faun was a band that got trampled by the dog, looks like it will come back ok. I have 2 in different parts of the yard. The Fairy was a body bag I grabbed a couple of years ago, I just got another one to plant out this year too. I got the Faun from Heirloom on sale....See Moreingrid_vc so. CA zone 9
