non blooming fothergilla 'Mt Airy'
Comments (3)from this website: http://www.paghat.com/mountairy.html There are only three species of fothergilla & all are native of the American Southeast. Mount Airy fothergilla wants well-drained moist acid soils. It flowers best in full sun, & develops more intense autumn colors when it gets plenty of sun, though it is highy adaptable so will thrive in part shade. Here is a link that might be useful: link...See MoreNon blooming Heucheras
Comments (1)Hi Kevin, I've had a few that didn't bloom. It usually means that they don't have the right garden conditions. In my case, they usually need more sun. Just because your other heuchera bloom in those conditions, it doesn't mean that your seedlings will. Heucheras have a very wide-ranging background. The species grow in conditions from rocky crevices to woodland. If you want them to bloom, try giving them different conditions -- move them around....See MoreMt. Dora Plant and Garden Fair
Comments (5)What? I kept yelling out your name all afternoon and people looked at me strangely, you didn't go? I think I got a sunburn, it was hot. We went, thanks Leekle you may want to go. The plants were even cheaper than the USF plant sale. I don't think there was as many vendors but there was plenty of eye candy. Of interest to you might be the passiflora alata. It was gorgeous. Someone bought the only blooming vine for $20. There were 3 more, but not blooming. They had hibiscus for $4, small ones, but plants just the same. The "air" orchids they had were fantastic. Nice little town. It was a nice little trip to get out and enjoy the countryside Oh we spotted one of the "regular" or is it tropical, milkweed, all flower, little plant and wasn't going to buy one, but it came with a monarch and my daughter wanted it. So I now have two types of milkweed and one very large cat! Amazing how many people noticed that cat on the plant. My daughter was an instant celebrity. Good day, sorry you didn't go but it sounds as though you had a pleasant day in the yard. Darren Oh I kept my eyes peeled for passion vines on the side of the road and didn't see any but I did see some goldenrod. I also saw a ton of Turk's Cap growing on the roadside??...See MoreHeuchera may displace hostas as my favorites
Comments (12)I started a new bed last spring that contains nothing but heuchera, tiarella and heucherella. I have about 50 varieties in this bed and a few in my front bed as well. In this pic, the fuller ones were transplanted from other parts of the garden. The small ones are new. And lemme tell ya, some of the brand new varieties were REALLY tiny! I did lose several this year, however. We had an exceptionally hot streak of weather and I think they bit it from lack of water. My favorites include Brownies... it's got such huge leaves, Sashay.... cool texture Stoplight.... in spring, it has red, yellow and green leaves Obsidian....amazing color Caramel...always looks great and a good grower Georgia Peach....what an amazing leaf color We got our first substantial snow yesterday, so no heuchera pics from right now! Besides, the leaves had already collected around them....See Moresandyslopes z5 n. UT
