About me: I am a retired professional horticulturist (formerly Director of Horticulture & Grounds Maintenance at the Denver Zoo and Director of Denver Botanic Gardens). In those capacities I had the opportunity to work with a wide variety of plant material used both for general landscaping and naturalized zoo animal habitat simulation. My personal gardening interests are varied, and I enjoy horticulture-focused travel. I have led horticulture/garden tours to Europe, SE Asia and China and have lectured on horticulture in China and Brazil. While I have always had a personal garden, after retiring and moving to a much smaller mountain community my interests will evolve more toward Rocky Mountain native landscapes and plants. I’ve been fortunate to enjoy opportunities, both personal and professional, to travel extensively, and have enjoyed experiencing beautiful gardens in England, Scotland, Wales, Belgium, Holland and Germany. I maintain a keen interest in European gardens and gardening and will shortly add genealogy as a focus for future European travel.

My zone is: USDA 4, CO
