My garden is young (in the "creep" stage). Hopefully next year it goes into leap mode. I've use delphinium, lilies, pincusion flowers, nepeta, peony, phlox, cranesbill geranium, & russian sage as companions. All roses and companions are in shades of pink and blue.

I have a rather new garden and posted some pictures of its transformation from grass to a rose garden with companion plants in May. The link is listed below. This is the second summer for most of the roses and the first for some. Some of the companion plants are sea lavender, day lilies, lantana, santolina, marjoram, lavender crape myrtle, butterfly bushes, anisodonta, reblooming irises, lavenders, columbines and some of which I don't recall the names. Harry, in your second shot, what is the peachy colored rose right behind the chair? Your roses (and the rest of your garden) are beautiful, have you been feeding them the beer that is in the picture?

Thanks so much for sharing your garden pictures. I never tire of visiting a garden. Mike you are so lucky to have that nice little creek running beside your garden!

JANEN - When we bought the house that little creek was a messy swamp with woods going from the edge of the creek all the way to a road about 1500 feet away. My neighbor has not cleared his trees out, so you can kind of see what mine use to look like by looking to the far right on each picture. He also has not cleaned up the creek! ie, look at the first picture and you can see all the cattails farther down.

I know what you mean about neighbors Mike. My neighbor across the back fence grows bamboo !!! I hate that stuff. They are monsters 40+ feet tall and send out long underground runners that we continually have to dig out. There is nothing that will keep them out of our garden. He likes the wild jungle look. I'm enjoying seeing all these beautiful rose gardens that everyone is posting. Please - keep sending.

mendocino rose - oh, my gosh. Wonderful. How many years have you been growing these roses? Those yellows - I love them.
