Complete rose newbie needs advise

Hi everyone,

I bought my first roses this spring at Walmart.

They were labeled antique roses.

I have no clue what cultivars they are.

The red one I planted in a half whiskey barrel. It was just the "sticks" with no branches or stems at all.

The pink fragrant one, I planted in a very large plastic container.

Well, the red one has grown 5 feet this summer so far. The thorns are huge and painful, but the plant itself is gorgeous! It constantly blooms.

The extremely fragrant pink rose bush has long stems and constantly blooms also, but has yellow leaves all around the bottom of the bush. (could be the heat?)

What do I do for the winter?

Just mulch it real good with regular mulch?

Do I prune it down in the spring? I really don't want the red one to get any larger than it already is.

The whiskey barrel has drain holes and is up off the cement padio elevated on bricks for drainage. Will that be OK for it in the winter cold? Should I move the bricks out for the winter? I don'ot know how hardy these rosees are.

Thank you all so much, I don't want them to die over the winter, I really love these bushes.
