What a COOL Froggy-laggers!

Some years ago, on a trip East, we stopped at ARE.
We bought a couple of roses in 1-G's, and carried them along in the RV's shower.
A few miles into Louisiana, on I-10, I glanced back to see a small froggy-laggers hopping down the middle "aisle" of the motorhome.
Fortunately, in those disciplined days, our dogs were all riding in crates.
I scooped up froggy-laggers, and we pulled off and let him loose in a semi-rural area of SW Louisiana.

1. Communicate, communicate, communicate. Talk about what you expect and what you want. Tell others what you are sending them. 2. Label. (Also communication.) List name of seed, year harvested, # of seeds or weight. The more information you can provide the more informed you look. You don't look like some fly-by-night ding dong that throws seeds in a baggie and floats them through the mail. 3. Send with protection. Use bubble wrap or bubble envelopes. There are FAQs on this so read it there. Don't send green bean seeds unprotected through USPS. All the person will receive is green bean dust when it goes through the sort machine. You've saved 35 cents, but you've made an enemy. 4. Use Rate and Review. It works well for Ebay and works well here, too. Find the person on Rate and Review and see what people are saying. If the posts are negative, politely decline any trades. 5. Package well. If you use plastic baggies make sure they are labeled and the seeds are dry. I have received moldy seeds. If you use things like recycled tea bags make sure the person can read it clearly when you label it. I've had too many seeds I couldn't read the label. Be careful what shortcuts you use. WBHV stumped me for w years. White bleeding heart vine. Write it out. 6. I thougth people were crazy for keeping a list of trades. It's the smartest thing I ever did. Now I can look back and see if I traded with them before, how the trade went, and what we traded. I thought I could remember...and maybe you can...but I can't. It takes a little time, but saves me frustration, postage and a lot of heartache. 7. Most of us think of our seeds as our babies. It's like finding a home for kittens. We want each home to appreciate and care for our seeds. We want the person to be happy. There's always a few 'ringers' in every circle and there are some here, too. Most are very generous, loving and caring. They want you to be happy and they want to be happy. Heidi in Nebraska Oh, and I created paper envelopes for seed saving. They are on pinterest. They are free. Just print as many as you want. I like paper because it allows the seeds to dry and not mold. Look up Seed Envelopes. There are about 8 envelopes per page.

Zone are meaningless when it comes to summer and winter temperature. I give you and example: both Atlanta, Ga and Portland,Or are in zone 8. I live in Atlanta area and have relatives in beaverton/Portlan. I was there this past June. It was still cool crop temperatures. And I have been monitoring the weather over there, still cool country; While here in Atlanta area days highs have been mid to upper 90s for the last 4 weeks. I have been harvesting cukes, zukes for 6 weeks now. Tomatoes are at peak, peppers have fruits. ... So, when it comes to gardening, not all places with the same zone number are the same. Zones are just indication of most probable last and first frost dates.

How do I keep tile floor clean?

I started to have tiles in my kitchen, then in my sunroom and will soon have my bathroom with tiles. Like trulyblessedmum, I could not for a while have the tiles completely clean, no matter how many times I rinsed the mop. They were not shining as they should, and yes, if you walked on them wearing socks, the socks would get dirty. But then I started to use Oxy Clean, a very versatile stain cleaner product (it is great to get stains off your clothes, even blood stains). I dissolve one and half or two measurefuls in four litres of hot water, wet the floor with it with a mop and leave it to work for 10 minutes. I then mop up the liquid (don't even need to scrub) and dry the floor with an old terry towel. The floor sparkles and any stains on the tiles or the grout are gone. The grout looks darker but reverts to its original colour when completely dry. Suzanne

He has been evicted...although I am sure he just went and got into another pot. Don't get me wrong...I know that toads are beneficial but they tend to kill things when they burrow into a pot filled with rose cuttings or plants.

I would have had to have evicted Mr. Toad also (he does look awfully grumpy in the picture, ha!)

There were several years in a row that my dad had hanging baskets with petunias in them and every single year he had some birds come and nest there. Cute also, but then he never could water the basket or even feel that he could go out on his porch until the birds left. I guess they eventually got the message.......

Well he is still there...I moved the larger pots and put small ones on that shelf so there isn't room .

Very cool pictures, Melva!
I've currently got a toad living underneath the mulch of my Heritage rose. It's the one in the ground though, and so far it doesn't seem to have bothered the rose.
But I'd boot the toad out of my potting cuttings for sure.

I did but he is back...the pots on 'his shelf' are too small for him, so he grumpily stays on the outside of the pots.

Took the 2nd picture for me to see the interloper. It's true, Mr. Toad does look grumpy.

But my Duchesse de Rohan doesn't look at all like yours?!

I think he is cute.

I hope you gave Mr. hopping flycatcher a good home outside of the pits, but maybe in the yard? You won't regret it.

I had a pair living in the leaf litter under my alba roses. Between them and the birds, I had very few flies, and I lived in dairy country.

Great shots: thanks for posting them! I wish I had a few toads. Actually, probably I do, as I've turned up a couple when digging, fortunately not hurting them. But I think my local bug population could support a few more predators.
