winterizing shasta daisy and geum

Lauril Rohde

This is my first time going over a winter with some plants - namely shasta daisy and geum coccineum. So far it has been a fairly mild fall and both these plants look very healthy and green. In fact, the geum is even still blooming.

My question: Do these plants get cut back to the ground for winter, and if so, when should that be done?

Thank you for any help.
