rehabbing St. John's Wort

stonequeen

I have a very old and woody St. John's Wort (4 feet across, 5 feet high) which still blooms massively every year (I have very mellow bees!). It has three base "trunks", one of which got bent by the snow last winter. What can I do with this plant? Can I do a huge prune next spring and hope it regenerates? What about now and preventing more snow damage this winter?
