You got me interested. All I read about Ento leaf spot is that if affects plants in Rose family including apple and pear. None mentioned that it affects cherry. Are you sure you don't have bacterial leaf spot on cherry? It's a common disease for cherry. You should Google pictures of the bacterial leaf spot on cherry and compare. Some look like yours, too. Your cherry leaves look quite different from cherry leaves on all my trees. Yours is wide with round top. Mine is narrow with pointed tip. Anyway, I don't know the fungicide you use but fungicide like myclobutanil (brandname like Immunox) or chlorothalonil (Daconil) is recommended for both Ento leaf spot and bacterial leaf spot.

is it a recent planting.. this spring??? the whole point of this plant is.. wait for it.. its red twigs.. IN WINTER ... i really wouldnt spend much time worrying about what it looks like ... in summer ... and but for lack of water on a transplant.. if you figure out how to kill it.. let us know ... it is.. in my experience.. completely bulletproof.. i would not waste a lot of time worrying about it.. especially with your rain ... and after getting established.. EVER ... all that said.. hunting bugs is therapeutic.. nothing wrong with that ... just reread your facts.. no clue about the other dogwood ... ken

The red leaves are most likely a sign of stress. Could it be disease? - That's possible, but unlikely if they were in good shape when you got them. Lack of nutrients? - Nope, forget that one. Watering every day? - Should only be done if you have very very sharply draining soil. You really need to test soil moisture (down a few inches below the surface) to determine when to water. Longer (deeper), less frequent watering is much better than shorter (quick), frequent watering. Post some pictures AND tell us about how your crapes were planted (especially details about planting depth, root preparation, and soil amendments used). Just want to update this thread. I never had any problems with my Pagoda Dogwood this year. I saw some Japanese beetles but the damage was very very little to none. I was really amazed! Probably, all the jbs went to the canna beside it. The canna really looks so bad. What an amazing discovery :D You can actually see the damage the JapBeetles did to the canna. Going back to my Pagoda tree, it produced 6-7 inches branch on top. I don't know if it produced new branches sideways. It is very healthy. It is very drought tolerant. I've never watered it, just nature. I like the straightness of the trunk as well. This was taken August 1, 2010. The picture above was from 2009.
