please post pics of your diy low budget ghs
Comments (16)I don't think my greenhouse counts as a "low budget" one as I used new materials, mostly. It is 24' by 14' and is built from pressure treated pine. The knee wall is 1/2 inch pressure treated ply and the north wall is solid and so is half of the north roof.the walls are 6ft high on a base of cement blocks. The frame, including the plywood cost $700. I still have three 4ft by 8ft sheets of ply left over. They are my "benches" They would have been the covering for the other half of the north wall but I couldn't get them up there!. It used to be covered in cheapo construction poly but last fall I bought proper poly. What you see is it covered in a double layer of Tuflight IV. Notice the front, south side and the patched up poly. That is because I have not really decided how to cover the front yet. Those patches are scrap poly covering torn vinyl panels. Total cost for a 24' by 14' using pressure treated and a double layer of 4 year greenhouse poly? Around $1000 Time taken to get this far? 4 years. Other bthings to note, do you like the stucco effect on the front? Notice how the stucco sort of is pealed back on the left side? The "stucco" is old carpet........ P.S http://www.stormlakeonline.com/user3316/Picture_0009.jpg tells you I should spend more time cleaning up the yard and painting the house than I do messing around with a greenhouse! :( Here is a link that might be useful:...See MorePlease post your pictures of your citrus partying outdoors. Pics.
Comments (142)My citrus have started the party out doors. Nagami kumquat in very bad shape but I believe it will live.. It is marked with the flying baseball cap. the crown marks my sweet lee tangerine tree. It was on its death bed then and is doing very well since planting there. The large tree below is my seed grown meiwa kumquat tree. In the process of moving it in and out I dropped it once and forgot to put in the spacer and burned the trunk with the light bulb. It has lost 1/3 of its leaves and shows no sign s of growth the smaller tree is a seed grown nagami kumquat. It is doing very well. 3 happy sweet lee tangerine trees from seed in bottomless gallon food tins. I had placed 3 sweetlee trees and a nagami kumquat tree in the community garden. Squirrels dug 3 sweetlee trees and the nagami up, one was replantable but died. the seed grown nagami was in critical damaged and was moved on to the roof as seen in the flying baseball cap. All four trees were very un happy not because the were grown from seed Here is a link that might be useful: http://s1094.photobucket.com/user/wreristhechimney/slideshow/Seed%20grown%20Meiwa%20kumquat%20tree...See MoreInterio Railings - Please Post Your Pics
Comments (4)Here's ours. Its still a bit under construction, but the railings themselves are black painted steel with stainless round rods for the infill. The bookcase also acts as a railing. The screen is made of black painted steel with white oak and walnut accents. The screen keeps the stair structure from tipping over and also acts as a railing so people cannot fall off!...See Moremore flowers...part 2..post your pics...
Comments (65)Well,I just scrolled through this entire thread and I am consumed with jealousy over your gardens. My little quarter acre doesn't allow for too many beds and my aging body does not either. The front of my house needs desperately to be relandscaped but digging out the old stuff is more than I can manage. It is raining buckets today and we have had a generally rainy spring. My peonies no sooner bloom than the rain beats them down. I was thrilled to see that a Kopper King Hibiscus that I relocated last year is coming back. It looked dead as a doornail, but now a big lovely shoot is coming up. My garden was not put together with much of a plan. I just add things as I fall in love with them. This year I added a deutzia. Here are my azaleas from earlier this spring along the driveway. I dug them out of my mother's woods about 35 years ago and I had no idea what colors they were, but I kind of like the mix. Here is my tree peony: What is the name of this pink flower? I know it is rather common, but I can never remember the name. It comes up all through my raised bed each spring and it is so adorable:...See Moreplanty01976
