Those are some mighty fine weeds you've got there. ;)

Trust issues? Nah. I trust that your seeds are sprouting. How can they not? This method is nearly foolproof as long as you don't sow too soon, too late, or leave the tops on a pan of petunias when it's 82 degrees in the shade.

Can someone please post a macro pic of buddleia seeds? I'm wondering if what I have are seeds. Looks like what I have are seed pods.

You can barely see Buddleia seeds. They look like the smallest wood splinter you've even seen and if your eyes are better than 20/20 you can even see the tiny teeny seed in the middle of that microscopic wood splinter look-alike thig-a-ma-jig. Know what I mean?

See the circle I drew? There are 3 seeds in that circle. The seed pod is crushed and laying to the side. If they came from me, I can't remember if I sent you any, you will have germination. Just crush the contents of the baggie and sow all of it.

Oh, that's really different from what I have. The hopefully-seeds I have here are all dark brown. I'll post a pic later.

Your picture helped a lot! I saw the seeds. They are very very tiny! :) However, I only saw a few maybe around 5 seeds.

That means, the ones I did about a month ago is wrong. I sowed the big ones which are actually the pods.

The gift seeds I got were mostly chaff and was told to gently crush it all, spread out everything onto the planting media and then press it in. That's all I did. This sowing is of a purple blossom with an orange center. 10 days later I sowed white butterfly bush so it will be fun to see if the white sprout 10 days from now.

Neil, just crush that between your fingers. Take a pinch, crush it and press it into the soil. I see a couple of seeds. Even though the pods haven't split open, you should have some seeds.

Well, I'm still waiting for mine, and I hope that I sowed the right stuff. Some very nice person on this board shared a whole baggie of them with me (and I shared them with a friend as well). So either I'll get pretty flowers for my mom, or I'll get nice, damp dirt.

Other things are sprouting, though. I even had something called "Orange Giant" sprout today (it hadn't even showed this a.m.) and I don't even know what it is!

Oh, I forgot another planting technique with that jug of buddlea. Knock it off a shelf, let it bounce a time or two, cobble it back together and tamp it down. *sigh* I'm soooo surprised they sprouted.

Kris, these seeds get thrown around in the garden by the wind, rain, and whatever else Ma Nature throws at them. And still they sprout and produce volunteers. A little fall off a shelf is nothing. At least you're protecting them from snow and ice.

Here's your macro. These are from a Park Seed's mixed color buddleia seed packet. Don't they look nice for sprouties that had their lids off last night in a light frost?
