My Dwarf Buckeye gets leaf scorch each summer and always comes back just fine. I think they just don't like hot weather and we're having a scorching drought this year. So mine also has browning all around the leaves. In my opinion it's nothing to worry about.

It's par for the course, for this species - and to some degree, for the genus as a whole; leaf scorch is common.
The little A.pavia in my front yard has been virtually leafless for nearly a month now, but I have no doubt that it'll leaf out just fine next spring. A couple of its cohorts, still in pots on the north side of the house where they get only direct morning sun - and daily watering - still have some leaves, but don't look too spiffy.
Red buckeye, in my experience is great in early spring, and lovely in bloom, but sort of like Dirr opined about Clerodendron - it looks like an overturned dumpster most of the year.

If you have any leaves this time of year, you ought to consider it a success.
I keep my potted Buckeyes in full sun until July, when I notice the native Buckeyes
begin to dry up and lose their leaves. Then I move my trees to the northeast side
of the house where they get morning sun and shade from wisteria and various trees.
With shade and water, my trees will hold their leaves for an additional month....
but that's pretty much it for the species (as Lucky mentioned).

Aesculus pavia requires protection from afternoon sun if you want it to maintain its leaves...and you can't allow it to dry out.

There are scorch resistant cultivars on the market now. Homestead Buckeye and Autumn Splendor are two examples.
