Need suggestions for recycling and replacing a large dead oak

I have a 60 foot oak that died this summer and I'm scheduled to have it removed. I'd like to make some type of use of the massive trunk (about 3 feet in diameter) if I could. Even laying it along the property line as a natural fence or in some other part of the yard as a natural ornament came to mind. (my SO is strongly suggesting I just get rid of the entire thing and stop trying to hang on to it). The arborist removing it said he can chip it up and leave it behind so that I could use it for mulch. I'm open to any ideas some of you might want to suggest.

I am in zone 5 and I would like to plant another tree to replace this one - a shade tree that is fast growing but long lived and relatively resistant to disease.

Some things I'm looking at: October Glory, White Pine, Sawtooth Oak - please add more suggestions if you can think of any.

Thank you.
