So many roses cling tightly to their old petals.

Leaving a brown mess. I know just dead head. But how do you deadhead a thorny 11' monster. With several hundred dying flowers? Of course you don't unless you are young with lots of blood and energy. I'm talking about Baltimore Belle. Then there is Raubritter famous for its' trailing habit and globular not fully open flowers. True, on the ground so easily reached. But again it has lots of flowers. More and more I'm favoring roses that drop their petals cleanly or at least don't turn an ugly brown.

That's difficult to know until you grow it or it happens to be mentioned in a book or here. It is however a trait that doesn't get a lot of attention. I think it should!
