When were red and yellow hues bred into roses.

When I'm writing a short story I try my best to have accurate information, even when I'm writing fiction, regarding Old Roses. I was leaving out yellow roses altogether in stories set in Europe to the early 1800's because I forgot about yellow Scotch Roses, and the Austrian Briar had been brought to Europe long before then.

I'd be grateful for any information about:

which yellow roses were grown in Europe and North America between 1200 and 1899.

and the names of all the

1. yellow flowering wild rose species.

-is yellow common among R. spinosissima, and does it fluctuate from palest yellow to light yellow?

-are there any medium yellow R. spinosissima?

2. red flowering wild rose species, and would you consider Rosa alpina to be red? In photos, blooms of R. alpina appears white to me with cerise edges. Are its rosebuds red?

-which red roses were grown in NOrth America and Europe between 1400 and 1899.

and please,

-which decade were these hues introduced in the West?

A. Scarlet garden roses, in the first 20 years after scarlet four seasons?

B. Crimson garden roses and a few names of these.

C. fire engine red roses, and their names

Thanks very much,

Luxrosa
