Yes, it is definitely not Alnwick. Maybe Ambridge tho I think it's a long shot. ..I have 3 Ambridge but they are own root and 2yo. This mystery rose I'm pretty sure is a graft, but doesn't bear resemblance to the Ambridge I have . I am wondering if it is Gentle Hermione? ? http://www.helpmefind.com/rose/pl.php?n=49093 Whatever it is, I wish I knew. It is certainly not getting the love it deserves in the South. It is extremely healthy, floriforous, and would be great landscape rose. Plus, I would get a few more, and sing its praise. Adrianne

Greetings all! So, my friend inherited the following two red-blooming roses with his house about six years ago. He hasn't really done much with them and asked me to help clean them up and give them a little help. I pruned the dead canes off #1 the best I could with the pruners I had with me just to get a better look at it, but outside of that I am hesitant to do much until I at least have a better idea of what they are. Mystery Rose #1 -Repeat Bloomer (spring and fall per friend) -Sets Hips about the size shape of a cherry tomato. -Huge true red double blooms (per friend) -There are currently no buds on the plant as of 4/1/16. -Main canes are about the same diameter as a crayola marker. -I'm kind of thinking this rose is some sort of climber as it seems to want to wrap itself around the wall and into the garage, and it's fairly leggy. I actually think it might be Blaze, but I'm not positive. -Sets hips that are bit smaller than a marble. - Not sure if it is a repeat bloomer. -Main canes seem to be about the same diameter as a drinking straw. - There are a few buds on the plant already.
