Losing Battle w/Betta

pieper

Previously a vibrant, happy, aggressive betta ~8 months old in 1 1/2 gallon container which is changed at least twice a week. Fed freeze-dried blood worms (refuses pellets). Started losing fins, so we removed the 'castle' (which did have sharp edge on the inside). Treated with Revive for several days with no improvement, and he began 'floating' down to the bottom, as if too weak to remain on the surface/swim. Fish store (not generic pet store) then recommended Melafix and a pinch of sea salt per water change. Treated as directed for 5+ days. No boticeable improvement. He lays primarily on the bottom, is hard to 'roust' to feed (he was still eating fairly voraciously), clamped fins which are not re-growing at all. No lesions. He's now difficult to feed, and all uneaten food is removed before it can sink. Began treatment with Kanaplex three days ago, following dosing/treatment instructions to the letter. No improvement. Now barely eating, laying on the bottom, occasionally on his nose, but more often listing to the side. Added a pinch of dissolved epsom salt today. Doing 25% water changes every 48 hours and always use water conditioner (we have very hard water). Won't take boiled, skinned peas. His spine seems a little bent, but when he swims it's quite straight. No swelling, ich, velvet or lesions. Container is not heated, but remains within range. I've added a light source the past few weeks to up the temp a bit (~79 or so degrees).

Anyone? I'm thinking it may be tuberculosis and it's heartbreaking to see him suffering. After over 3 weeks of treatments, nothing seems to be helping him.
