Can't say for sure, but it looks like h. Annabelle. It is a hydrangea though. I'm including a link for hydrangeas. It's really great on showing the different kinds and how to grow them.

However, I couldn't find any mention where it should be planted. If it should be placed where it should only take few hours of sun like 2 hours. I remember my hydrangea didn't do well. I planted it in southeast corner of my house. The leaves were wilting. Then I found out that I need to water them a lot. When I found out about it, I had to leave my sold house.

Now, am worried that if I buy hydrangea again, I might experience the same thing.

Dear Virtuosity: The soil close to a house is usually very poor "fill" - so it drains very fast. Then, to add to the problem, the area next to a house is probably under the eaves, so it does not get rained on. This is probably why your hydrangea wilted. Don't give up on growing hydrangeas: plant them IN the garden, not right next to a house - let the hydrangea get sun and rain (but water it like any other plants if you have a long dry spell). You should be rewarded with a beautiful, healthy shrub.

Not all hydrangeas can take full sun, but those are PG (Hydrangea paniculata grandiflora) types, and they can take full sun, and are more cold-hardy than their macrophylla cousins. You might also check into the Oak-leaf hydrangeas. That one in the photo looks like one that's gone green after the flowers started out white.

If you go to the link I gave and click on 'Annabelle' you'll get the info you need for planting. You need to scroll down though. Hydrangeas do like water, but just because it wilts doesn't mean it needs water. If the leaves and flowers perk up about an hour after the sun is off of it, then it doesn't need water. It wilts when it's hot and sunny to conserve the water. It may look bad, but it will look normal after the sun is gone. If you're worried when it looks like that, feel the soil. A lot of people think they have to water them every day, but that's not true. I have 'Endless Summer' and PG hrdrangeas. ES gets sun from around 9am to 2pm. On hot sunny days it can look bad, but after the sun is gone it'll be fine. I water mine deeply once a week and mulch them. Even during our hot spells, I've never had to water more than that. I've seen 'Annabelle' in areas where it gets sun all morning and into mid afternoon. They do just fine. PGs can take the full sun in the northern states better than in the southern states. Mine doesn't get full sun, but there are many around here that do. I've read the mopheads and lacecaps don't like all day sun. The leaves will burn.
'Annabelle' starts off with green flowers that turn to white. I believe, but I'm not positive, they turn to that green again when the flowers age.
Check out the different kinds there are and if you see one you like, post here again and ask others how well it does before you buy it.

Sounds like the place you visited is close to your home so you can take your queue as to where to plant it in terms of sun exposure from their planting. I always do that and it works well.

It is definitely an Annabelle. I have three. One is in full all day sun and two others are in sun until 1 pm, then dappled shade. Keep in mind that my summers are probably cooler than yours.

In regards to wilting, Kat is right on the mark. They don't necessarily need water when they wilt.

I was at HD today and I saw exactly the Hydrangea I posted above. It was about 16 to 20" in height but I couldn't believe the price. It was $34. OMG!

Hydrangeas can be pricey in some places, but I have found they are extremely easy to start from cuttings, and at almost anytime of the year. Therefore, I only buy one of a particular variety and start more from home.

(I have never grown Annabelle.) Just take tip cuttings that have three or four sets of leaves. Cut (not tear) the two bottoms sets of leaves off right at the stem. Then stick the cutting into moist potting soil up to the bottom set of leaves. Put it in shade and water it everyday religiously until it starts to show growth. I usually overwinter them inside under lights their first year, and then put them in the ground come spring. I have even stuck cuttings right into the ground where I want them to grow and had success with them, as long as I remember to water.

I bought one new one gallon plant last year, and by the end of the winter, I had eighteen new plants ready to plant in the ground! Believe it or not, I took cuttings from my rooted cuttings during the winter and about three fourths of them took.

Got mine from the 'dud' pile at a garden center a couple of years ago for $1.00 each. They were in 1 gallon pots.

To pay $34.00 for them is highway robbery. Someone in your neighbourhood might be growing them. You might ask for a few stem cuttings and do as Donna states. They are so easy to propagate it's not funny. :O)
