small fern like tree with pink flowers

Yesterday at my son's eye surgeons office I noted a small tree or bush with pink elongated small flowers. The tree looked almost like a huge asparagus fern and had gray bark. What is it? I'd like to put in a hedge of these.

Hopefully it wasn't the invasive mimosa. Usually I'd describe it as a large bushy tree though. We have them sprouting up all along the zone6 highways between my house and the Ozarks.

If it is do the local ecosystem a favor and kill it.

They do bloom nicely and don't get that large so they're not too much trouble when they die, and there are always volunteers to pluck up to replace yours when it does, that's why ppl plant them.
