Comments (9)It isn't my tree, but I could get roundup and kill it in the spring. It is in an old cemetary in Uniontown Pa, near my house. The maintenance is not too good there, some trees are covered in ivy and dead. They cut the grass, but most of the trees need dead wood removed, like the tree in the pic, it has lots of dead branches, if I had lots of money I would try to get it pruned, but it's on public land and I don't have money to throw at a tree that isn't mine. There are some big cedar/arborvitae looking evergreens there too, they may be yews, I didn't really look at the foilage too good....See MorePlease ID this really big, really old tree
Comments (20)David - We get some nasty storms, especially in winter. We get storms with 70km sustained winds and 90km gusts off of the lake in the summer. Ive seen snow loads snap pine/spruce branches. Sure we arent tornado ally, but we get nasty storms. We are susceptible to weather bombs and wind sheer coming off of the lake. We have also gotten hit by remnants of hurricaines. We got nailed with the rest of katrina. Not as bad as toronto did mind you. I can see similarities between the tree im looking at and black poplar. The leaves are very close. The only thing I can see different is the growth habit from pictures. Black poplar seems to have a habit somewhat similar to ash, with upright branches. This tree as you can see in the last picture has weeping branches (which is why i was thinking willow). The first picture reminds me somewhat of an elm, at least in shape. I cant find any poplar that looks like that....See MoreOT break time my living tree. Pic easy to make

Comments (8)So far our trees don't look that bad. They just look pretty. It's a layer of ice and then a whole bunch of sleet. I think we have about an inch total. I talked to my family in Arkansas a little while ago. My brother's house doesn't have power, but my dads still does. They are expecting the bad stuff to come in tonight. They have a fireplace and a generator so they'll be ok....See Morerhizo_1 (North AL) zone 7
