When Sedum Meets Grass

Hi, I am planning on blocking an area in my lawn to grow some sedum acre. My question is on the border where the sedum and the grass meets, will the sedum invade into the grass, or vice versa?

I notice where I have my coneflower and sedums, the sedum didn't get close to the coneflower. There is like a foot in radius around the coneflower that the sedums do not get close. I am thinking that maybe the roots of the coneflower are so thick that it blocks the sedums from coming close.

If that is the case, that is really cool. I am wondering if I could block one plants against another naturally, like maybe different patterns of heuchera block with different leave colors....

I guess you can tell I am a newbie. :-)

the sedum I have is a ground cover type. It does go into the grass but it is so shallow rooted it doesnt matter. I just pull it up if its somewhere I dont want it.
Theres so many different varieties, I love sedums.

I find that grass is more of an infiltrator than sedum tends to be.

How about creeping thyme? I have a variety that I winter sowed that gets about 3 inches high and makes a nice mound. I use as a border for one of my front beds and between stepping stones in my back garden. After it blooms, pink, I cut it way back to keep it short and it grows well and reblooms. Sorry no close up but you can see it fills in nicely as a border. And smells great when you step on it. If you want some you are welcome to come over and dig some up. I live in Maple Grove near the intersection of 494 and 94/694.

In the light of the recently-developed emphasis on "organic" in the big stores ... ... it seems to me that "organic" = "expensive". And I agree that grass-fed beef should be cheaper to raise to market weight. But ... in the normal corporate product pipeline, the price that the farmer receives bears little resemblance to the final price ... ... which is mostly "WTTWB" (Whatever The Traffic Will Bear). Check with local small abattoirs, though sometimes you'll find that there is little price reduction, but the operator usually knows the lineage of his animal supply. ole joyful

Plugs will probably be too much too. I don't want to pay someone to do it, and the yard size makes it difficult to plant plugs by hand. Are you saying Bermuda is high maintenance? This will be a long term house, I plan to install an irrigation system soon, probably underground sprinklers, and will use just normal timed sprinklers until then. Would that be expensive to keep Bermuda watered then? I've never seen the house in summer (new) so I have no idea about the shade. I just used google maps satellite view though and it seems the tree cover is so thick you cant see the backyard from the top-down view in the summer...though it's deciduous trees so I don't know how "dense" the shade is.

I also find that the grass is more likely to invade, but it may depend on how thick your grass is. Acre will happily grow on top of rock or concrete though.
