Comments (10)I had always heard that dogs should not eat cat food because it was too high protein for dogs. That's interesting. I was talking to a lady in the grocery store at the kitty food isle a few days ago. She had found her Hymalayan kitty that was 11 months old dead in the yard with not a mark on him. She took him to the vet for an autopsy and the result was he died from heart failure. The vet said it is very common for Hymalayans to have this problem. So she had adopted a very small kitty from the pound and was trying to get it up to 2 lbs. so it could have it's shots. When it and it's litter mates were found they were way too young to be on their own. Don't know if the mother was killed or someone had just abandoned them because they didn't want them. I love all kinds of cats. Glenda...See MoreAnyone grow a really dwarf Joe Pye Weed?
Comments (46)Joe Pye weed is a great plant in the right place, beautifully suited to swamps and wetlands. It is a very large plant with a robust presence. It has an appealing scent. I don't think it would be well-suited to a small English garden - it's a space eater. I don't care if people don't like the plants I grow or the way I garden. Because our gardens are public, we see the gamut of visitors. Most are kind. Occasionally, there is a gardening snob wandering through, but I have learned to ignore them. But everybody's garden is different and their experience of any given plant is bound to reflect that difference. I didn't invent any of the plants I grow, so I cannot take it personally if anyone dislikes a particular plant. Also, my own tastes change. Plants I loved 15 years ago may now be banned from the garden, or they just might be working their way back into my own top 10 list....See MoreDoes 'Little Joe' draw the BFs ?
Comments (30)Ok, I didn't go crazy and buy six Little joes, but I did buy one, the blooms aren't open just yet. Should I go back and buy more of them? $4 bucks each at Walmart... I did buy a few other butterfly attractions though. Two different echinacea, a yarrow, a butterfly bush, and a rubeckia. :) I'll plant them this evening when it cools off some. Right now, they are on my deck where the wind won't beat them up, in a semi shaded area. I've also got dill and fennel seeds thrown around in the back sw corner, those can come up or not this season, I've tons more to toss out there. :) I'll get the yard in shape for the butterflies yet! Comments (16)Hey, didn't I bet with you Jessy about last night's All-Star game? I seem to remember that I bet on the AL and you bet on the NL. Shucks, I lost. David, you are going to love those olives! Jessy introduced me to them. Now I have to ration them out to Raymond because he will eat an entire can in one sitting...and they ain't cheap....See Morerouge21_gw (CDN Z5b/6a)
