AGH! Thrips won't go away!

Hello! I have a white hybrid tea planted with alyssum and gives a very good show of blossoms but is plagued by blackspot and thrips. (Yes, I know thrips are attracted to white, but it's my favorite rose.) The blackspot is under control but the thrips will not leave. They get into the bud while it's opening and cause horrid discolorations. They look like little red slits crawling over the white petals. I've tried drowning them, spraying them, removing infected blooms the works. The spray only seems to work if you keep applying it as the bloom opens. The insects get into any unsprayed portions in the petals so only the outside of a closed bud is safe. I'm at my wit's end, but I don't know how to get rid of them! Please help, I don't want to lose anymore blooms to these annoying pests.
