Hmmm I put mine in regular mail envelopes and stuck them in a cranny to keep them from falling over. I kept the envie's open till I was sure the seeds were dry then I sorted them out and put them in little paper envelopes. I do like the clear baggies once they are dry because you can easily tell how many seeds are in there. Harder to label though.

I use the plastic baby food containers with the lids to store after drying and cleaning until I am ready to package up.

Someone recently sent me some in darker brown envelopes that looked very much like a paper bag, but they were specifically little envelopes. They weren't coin envies; I use those already. But these little brown bags were just too cute.
Anyone know what they're called or where to get them?

I use the original package, or make small envelopes with the name, date, etc. on a small label. Then they all go into a one gallon (as many as will fit) suck-u-vac bag and I suck the air out of the bag. (This sounds so incredibly off-color!) This little "sucker" sells for $6 around here and I use it for everything. It's fantastic.

I collect seedheads in brown paper lunch bags, or in little paper cups. Then they dry out in the kitchen for several weeks. After they're dry, I clean them and put them in those little coin envelops, or the little 2x3 inch plastic baggies.

I've stored my seeds for years in plastic zipper bags in a drawer in the fridge. I save the dessicants from vitamins and what not and throw those in the drawer and each bag. From what I've read, this will extend the lifespan of the seeds a great deal - and I've had great germination on seeds that are 10 years old and older.

Otherwise, a cool, dry, dark place is good.

Pill bottles, I had everyone saving pill bottles for me.

Brown paper bags hung on a small laundry line in the basement stairs to dry. Once dry they go in small white envelopes and into my collection of old sewing baskets.

I place newly collected seeds in old baking pans or tuna cans.
Once they are cleaned and dry, I save them in snack zip lock bags then I line them up alphabetically in shoe boxes.

Collect then in dip bowls, they stack inside each other as I move for plant to plant.
Then I put them in coffee filters on a cookie sheet to dry.
After sorted etc, I put them in pill bottles. I can see into them.
Then I sort into annuals or perennials or veggie an place bottles into zip bags in boxes.

I put mine if the small (2x3) plastic baggies or half size zip baggies after they are dried. I put the baggies in photo boxes that I get at Big Lots cheap. Also, I keep any of those moisture reduction granule bags from shoes, purses, etc. and put those with my seeds to dry. I also keep them in the photo boxes.

For seeds I harvest in any significant quantity e.g. hollyhock, sunflower and marigold, I use paper sacks in an unheated shed.

The surplus of any seed I buy I keep in the original package. Usually opening by cutting of the bottom will preserve the name, date etc. I set these in an loosely covered tupperware-like thing on a shelf in the garage.

sammich bags for collecting, then to paper plates for drying, then back in the baggies if there's a ton of seed, otherwise I always save the packets when I'm WSing, so I have plenty of packets to use.
I have mailing labels to stick over old commercial packet pictures.
Then they either get tossed in a grocery bag, or maybe they end up in alphabetized freezer baggies, or maybe if I'm REALLY good, they go in the cool wooden thingy that my DH made me that has wooden slats A-Z to keep them organized.
But it's just as easy to play in a paper bag ;)

I have always use those small and large sized aluminum tins that you get from SAMS in bulk. This way, if there is marigold in one, I can stack the next container with columbine on top, etc. as they get enough air. I have had as many as 8 containers on top of eachother. I keep them in the garage until they are dry. The tins also are great collectors when youshak the pods over the tins.

I have so many more seeds I could plant but hesitate, I don't want to be overwhelmed come spring. Do I??
I have no beds prepared, no real plan where I'll be planting. Not enough compost. Ah, the joy of gardening..
