My white butterfly ginger will bloom later and be very fragrant. Same with my colocasia. Osmanthus fragrans (a shrub) will bloom again in the fall.

My agastache rupestris is still fragrant. Bronze fennel is fragrant, but it's not a floral fragrance.

Roses are still going strong. Butterfly bush still has some oomph as well as my oriental lilies. They're not done yet. Gardenias are very heavenly right now. You should interplant some annuals if you really want the fragrance to continue. Some shrubs can be very fragrant late in the season as well.

An oldie but goody is the 'Royal Standard' Hosta Lily. Fragrant pure white flowers. I had the pleasure sniffing one today.

Yes, my roses are still doing well (esp. my Julia Child!!!) and my hostas are blooming now with some very fragrant flowers... :-)

Not a perennial, but the Heptacodium is just coming into bloom and is fragrant.

Clethra Alternifolia (Summersweet) has been nice lately.

My coneflowers are still blooming. I love the ones that have a rose scent!

Phlox Paniculata is my favourite right now - has been all my life since my DM grew it as her favourite. Took a clump last year and literally dumped it by our entrance thinking I would pot it up for the winter and replant in the spring but forgot. It rooted even though this was done last November and right now it is the best bunch on the property!!

Buddleias are awesome right now too. Clethras are about to bloom here and I'm looking forward to their scent.

Another one which you can smell from a distance is Cimicifuga (Bugbane). It has a sweet fruity smell which is wonderful and the Painted Lady butterflies go nuts on it. :O)

'Darlow's Enigma' rose - you can smell it from 20 feet away.

Heliotrope Marine, even though an annual, is still putting out new little flower clusters and I love the fragrance. Does anyone grow the perennial Heliotrope I've seen on some sites and know if it's as fragrant as the annual?

The second & third flush of rose blooms were great until the DEER ate every bush the other night...bent over the 4' rabbit fencing to get to EVERY bush. There are 4 tiny new own root bushes they hadn't touched before. Of course they had a fragrance rating of 8-10 but that's no excuse for the deer.

Echincaea Fragrant Angel (white) really does smell like a rose as advertised.

The one Cherry Cleome up in full sun mailbox bed is up to 16 stems...another annual. I wouldn't call its odor a "fragrance" exactly but it sure smells...LOL. When I'm bending over watering or deadheading I ask myself, "What's that smell?" and realize it's the darn Cleome.

I sniffed my Joe Pye Weed after seeing it noted but the scent on mine is very light. The bees don't seem to mind the lack of strong fragrance.

Again, foliage on Agastache Honey Bee Blue (flowers petered out already) and Scarlet Sage have their scents.

Was counting on those beautiful roses for more scent over next 2 weeks. Drat and double drat...the deer don't care about the 4-5 repellant scents I rotate or the fact they had to bend the fencing to get at the roses.

I never really thought about missing floral scents this time of year until this thread.

I'll have to note what people have said still holds scent and see if it's rabbit and/or deer resistant. How many years before I admit it's a battle in vain and the war is already lost? Probably not for next year since I'm already making notes about what stays and what I need to replace that's more suitable for various spots...LOL.

Several responses have mentioned fragrant Hostas, and Hosta plantaginea (also called "August Lily" ) is blooming for me now. It is one of the direct parents of 'Royal Standard' and is somewhere back in the breeding lines of all fragrant Hostas. The flowers are huge (3" or more across), snow-white and trumpet shaped, and the fragrance is unbeatable. Will only bloom for about a month (not until frost, as you desire), but once you smell it you will be hooked. I would recommend staying away from the double cultivars 'Venus' and 'Aphrodite' as the flowers do not open reliably.

Hosta 'Guacamole' has a good fragrance and pretty white large blooms that have been in bloom for over a week.
