The multiple sizes listed on the package refer to the tire sizes that the tube will fit. If your tire size is listed (or if it falls in between 2 sizes that are listed) it will serve your tire. Did you actually identify the leaking point of the tire? If not, the leak may not be due to the "dry rot" condition of the tire. If your tire is leaking from a foreign object puncture you must find the object and remove it before installing a tube or it will puncture the tube and you're back to square # 1. I have read testimonials regarding the product known as "Slime". I use the stuff and have good results with it. I read where a user stated that Slime was the only way he could operate his machines. One of his customers lot had several large "thorn bearing trees" and the fallen twigs and thorns kept his tires flat until he began using Slime.

When I back my tractor out of my shed I have to prop the door open so it won't close while I'm pulling out. usually I get off the tractor and close it after that, but today I left it open, and ten minutes into cutting my grass I caught the aluminum edge with my tire. I didn't slash the tire immediately, and if I'd just stopped what I was doing and eased my way out of the situation I probably would have saved the tire, but instead I did the knee-jerk reaction and immediately hit the reverse pedal. In less than a second my tires went from 20psi to zero, leaving an inch-wide slash right in the sidewall. I never liked those tires anyway, but it's a shame I ruined a tire that still had the nubs on the tread. The tractor's a John Deere GT series, with 23x10.5x12 Titan Turf Master, I think. They weren't exactly great tires when it comes to traction. My yard is nearly flat, but I have a drainage ditch along the street which is graded and sodded, but about a 30 degree slope (enough that I have to hang onto the uphill fender to stay in my seat). It gets a little hairy mowing that and I've lost traction a few times trying to turn out of it or cross it perpendicularly. I've been thinking about getting some more aggressive tires, like the ones on the X700 series. Or possbly some ATV tires. Is there any real difference in the construction between ATV tires and tractor tires? I mean it's not a different bead profile on the rim or anything, right? I like the Maxxis Bighorns. I also like the All-Tracs, although they're only a 2pr and 16lbs, vice 6pr, 21 lbs of rubber for the Bighorns. I'm also looking at the Carlisle AT-489, which are $88 for 23x10x12 at jack's small engines. I need to get something soon. I don't want to have to push my lawn, but if I don't figure something out soon, I'll be walking around with green shoes. -Chris

no, i found super lug in this size tire, and yes, i do need a slightly more narrow tire. I had 16x6.50x8's on it, some cheap brand that only says "made in China" on them, and it was ok. I busted one and put on a Carlisle of same size and the Carlisle is least a inch wider, so when i run over something that lifts that side up, and i am in a turn, it rubs pretty good against frame. I could use small trailer tires, hi speed ones in similar size, but the tread is so smooth on them.And still i havent saw any yet to determine height or width, just thought someone may know. Here is the lug tire page in size in question. I would rather have the 16x6.50's cause they are 4 ply. Just dont know if they would be width of my originals or the width of the wider Carlisle i have. ngslc, I found a thread on a different forum by doing a Yahoo search "John Deere AWS 425 tire size" search. In the thread, a poster said that he had replaced the 23" std. rears with 26" ag lug tires and "the fit under the fenders was tight". But the poster also indicated he had these tires mounted on wider than std. wheels also. (wider wheels can result in slightly lower overall diameter than with narrow stock wheel). You will probably want to find a tire to fit your stock wheels that has a larger diameter instead of going all out with new wheels and tires. Anyhow, I'm going to guess that 26" is probably the max you will will get under the fender without mods to the fenders. Remember, 3" taller tire increases your ground clearance by roughly 1 & 1/2". Hopefully some other forum members who have "been there-done that" will post some specific brands and sizes to help you decide.
