JD X320 (is this is a good deal thanks!)

I am wanting to upgrade from what I have now which is a ;

38inch deck

Bolens 6 speed

Dual bagger & Snow plow w/ chains.

I was looking at a LA175

( I haven't read anything good about the LA's)

So I have made My choice to be one of John Deere's Select Series Tractors.

After doing Research.

I have found that the X320 would be perfect for what I intend to to do with it.

I have found a dealer that has a used one here is the specs;2006 X320 has about 125 hrs

48 Inch Deck

New seat replaced due to rips

1 owner tractor was sold here locally

They wanted $2,350 but with my trade he said he would give me $450. So price of the X320 would be around $1,900.

The dealer said they have a new one for $4,200.

(That is alot more than I wanted to spend, I am going to do light snow plowing(live in VA), occasionally would like to arerate and seed w/it, and mostly mowing with it.

Is this a good deal? The mower is 440 miles away want to make sure it is a good deal or not?

I have a 2009 X320 they can be bought for around $3800.00 new.Thats not a bad price for a used one.Just remember they now come with a 4 year 300hour warranty.Back in 2006 I think it was just 2 years so its out of warranty im sure.Guess it depends if that warranty matter to you or not and what it worth to you personaly.

johndeere, Don't presume that JDs can be bought everywhere at a discount. Current SRP on an X320 is $4099 and there's a promo till 3/2010 offering $200 off. In many areas dealers hold fast to suggested retail and some dealers charge retail plus and then add setup and freight charges.

xraymikey, That's a fair deal, not a steal. A dollar's worth for a dollar. If you are genuinely interested try to get the dealer to give you a warranty of some length like 6 months... just to cover your behind.

The prices are on the Deere website and that is the MSRP of that tractor . Not ripping you off , but not giving a deal either . Just the price the factory says it should sell for , unfortunately some dealers refuse to deal . I got a good deal on my Simplicity Broadmoor 4 years ago by getting a list of dealers from their website and calling around - found it (a 2005 model) 41 miles away for $300 less than the local dealer wanted for a 2004 leftover model. Hey everyone, thanks for the follow-up posts. After my original comment, I went outside to finish the mowing that I hadn't completed yesterday, and I started reading the stickers on the mower, that are placed around the deck height adjuster, which explain the buttons/switches on the console. Well, low and behold it explained how to mow in reverse. Just like you guys said, with the PTO switch already elevated (blades en-gaged), you pull it up a little bit more (only gives about an 1/8" - very slight movement), and then push the reverse pedal, and the blades stay engaged while backing up. Also figured out that you don't have to hold that PTO switch during the entire backup, but, if you let the switch go, and then ever so slightly lift up on that reverse pedal, and then push it back down, the safety mechanism does kick in, and dis-engages the blades. So, at that point I really felt like a heel for having made my initial post up above. LOL If all else fails, read the directions. I can't tell you how many times I skipped that step, and then ended up eating crow, like today. LOL

If all you are really doing is mowing you should be fine. I believe that they still have an accessory hitch plate for the Z, but I find them a pain to back a trailer with. Have the dealer show you basics of things that you will want to do- IE cleaning of the deck or maintenance. You may very well have a preference after that.

If your "... JD X320 battery died within one week of non use". then the battery is marginal and charging won't bring it back. Have the battery load tested. When you know you have a good battery, listen for the" click" of the fuel shut-off solenoid in the carb at the moment you turn on the key. No " click", no fuel to the carb.
