Still definitely a cherry.

Considering that the only Elm that is naturalized(there are no native Elms in Colorado) in your area is Siberian Elm (Ulmus pumila), I bet it's most likely that species. Although American Elm (U. americana) has been commonly cultivated in Colorado and that's possible. But your seedling looks more like Siberian Elm to me. Also, Siberian Elm has widely erroneously been called Chinese Elm, the true Chinese Elm(U. parvifolia) is mostly sold as Lacebark Elm and usually has very ornamental multi-colored bark which is completely unlike any native Elm and the vast majority of cultivated Elms. It's also only been in wide spread cultivation for about the past 20 years or so.

Thank you both. I feel silly not knowing a crape myrtle. I bought this house late last August and thinking back now remember that the foliage was a beautiful deep orange-red. I didn't realize they got so tall. These must be about 30' tall. I can't wait to see what color blooms they have. Thank you both again.

Hi Mary. A fellow 'sconnie, Norway spruce are among my very favorite species, and yes, yours look pretty good. If you or someone you know has a pole saw, it is amazing how much of an improvement in appearance can be made by an hour or two of work taking off dead branches within reach of the tool. It's easy and satisfying work with a great payoff. Other than that, about the only possible thing that could matter to these trees at this point would be to watch for dry conditions. As you state yourself to be in zone 4, methinks you are somewhere in the northern part of our state, which is still sadly missing nearly every storm system that comes through. But........keep in mind....this may not be necessary at all and if you do decide to water these trees, you really need to water a very large area under and around them.
