Louis Philippe - Pretty As A Focal Point?

Have any of you used Louis as a foundation plant that is meant to accent your house? I'm fairly new at growing chinas, and have not seen any that are "grown up" in person, other than a few that were left on their own. A couple of pictures I've seen of him in full splender have depicted him as looking somewhat ratty. Most photos only show his blooms and not the whole bush.

I have a baby one, and I love his raspberry red flowers. His leaves are pretty. However, like any youngster, he is looking a little awkward in growth, but I know a young plant fresh out of a 3 gallon pot is nowhere near what they look like later on.

I planted him in front of a wall to my white house. Do you feel if I groom him frequently and "tweak" him with slight pruning that I can persuade him to have an attractive habit of growth? Or is this a losing battle and Louis should be planted in an area that is not as "important"?
