Crestfallen Container Queries

I was sad to discover that all these milk jugs I've been gathering won't be much good next year.

So we only save them from landfills for a season, then back they go ,eh?

I'd like to know if anyone at all uses them two or more years.

And, if you do , do you just cut the tops off the first year, at planting out, and then put the remaining bottom in a plastic bag the next year? If not, why not?

I can see that saving the almost cut off tops on the jugs would make them too tippy and wind weary, but how about getting rid of the top then and using a cover? No good either?

Audrey

Thanks! Even though I am sad about the jugs I am still having big fun winter sowing!
