You might not want to know this but at Super-K I got some Mondara "Panorama Mix" for about $1.25 a pack.It's different shades of pink. I have some sowing, too. I have never had them before. I can't wait.

If all else fails, Bluestone Perennials has some nice varieties of red monarda.

Nice! if I don't get them on e bay today I'll use Bluestone--or maybe I won't, I find them expensive--and there is something about pulling out my credit card that stops me--good thing --but Pay Pal is so easy. I have promised myself--and have kept the promise for some reason--never to spend more than $30 at once with Pay Pal. Also, I can often get Free Shipping on E bay which I never can at a place like Bluestone."Easyliving Native Perennial Wildflowers" now takes Pay Pal but has a $20 minimum. I can handle that!
What and where is Super K? Don't think we have that in Brooklyn. Oh you mean K Mart? We don't have that either. There is one near where I work in Manhattan...maybe I'll pop over this week and see what they have...

Audrey, how long have you been growing the monarda in your garden? Monarda are like mint, they spread like crazy! You'll probably have a lot more this year than last year. I had to pull a lot of them out of my garden because they tried to take over the whole thing. Then I found them growing in a different place, in another garden, where I didn't even plant them. They still come up in both gardens but I have to keep them under control. The butterflies and hummingbirds just love them!

Audrey, stop buying on e-bay. Go to seed exchange and ask them for some good on line seed catalogs. There are many, and its cheeper than ebay. Parks seed has a sale going on for seeds $1.00 each pack. Better yet tell them you are new to seed saving/ winter sowing. Someone there will offer you seed for a bubble envelope and postage. Send them your bubble envelope with your return stamps and an address lable inside and they will send it back full of seed. They are great enablers! Also go to round robin exchange and click on some of those. "Extra extra Seed All About It Before Spring Swap" is a good one. Tell them you are a newby, that you don't have any seed to trade and then ask them if someone would be kind enough to sponsor you. Don't be shy about it. You will get many offers. I was in a round robin exchange at christmas time that had more offers of sponsors than there were newbes to accept. Again, they are great enablers. also there are many posts for seed for "SABE" This is again a bubble envelope with your return postage (stamps) and your address label inside. In fact I will send you some seed. I only have flowers and shrub seed (Sorry no monarda). Many wonderful other flowers though. Just send me a 6 by 9 inch bubble envelope with your address inside and 4 stamps. If I don't need to use them all I will send them back. I guess I'm a an enabler too. It's all about the SEED!!! Just click on "My Page" to find my e-mail so you can mail me for my address. Connie

I have been growing both red and purple monarda for about two years. The purple spreads, but I don't love it. I adore the red, I want more red. I hope you are right, maybe this year there will be more of it!

Yes, stay away from eBay. Visit our own seed exchange. There is no reason at all to purchase seeds if they are fairly common. Even if not, there are likely people with at least a few they would share for a trade or postage. Just don't go over there asking for SASBE only, Chemocurl doesn't like that. LOL.

Send me an email. Then send me, in a regular envelope, a mailing label and four stamps. See what happens.

Let's see, I have many different types of Japanese maples. I don't know the names and I've been told they probably won't come true from seed but will be close enough you may not even be able to tell a difference. Western himlock, noble fir, sugar maple, quaking aspin, cornelian cherry, ornamental crabapple, honey locust. They are all trees. Humm, Several types of rose of sharon, crape myrtle, redvine enkianthus, fragrant sarcococca, hybiscus,sweet autumn clematus.I have others I have gathered along the freeways where they have landscaped, but I haven't identified those yet so I don't offer those in trades.

There's no such thing as "too many seeds."
