That is a great looking garden. I think it's a good example of mixing colors and textures, shapes and sizes and it all works perfectly.

As for the photograph. Here is a hint for photographers and gardens. Try to use a long telephoto lens. The problem then is movement and this shot was a little blurry do to wind so . . . . I did a little creative thing to it to take out the inherent fuzziness.

The one thing I'm going to do is take out the MilkWeed!! It is seeding EVERYWHERE!! I spend every day pulling out Milk Weed plants.

Just peeking in from the daylily forum and saw your beautiful garden. I've been gardening for over twenty years and have yet to have anything look that beautiful. I was curious as to what kind of milkweed you are growing. The kind we see here in Pennsylvania that grows nearly everywhere will reseed for us, but mostly it sends up sprouts from roots that are often well away from the main plant. I prefer butterfly weed or an annual milkweed that I've been having trouble finding seed for but think I found what I'm looking for at the attached URL. We have noticed that the monarchs seem to like the annual milkweed the most, followed by butterfly weed, then the traditional one. Annual milkweed reseeds for us but germinates too late to be of much use to the monarchs. We find you have to start them indoors to get good summer bloom.

Just checked out your photo pages and just wow! Exquisite. Loved the motorcycles on the first page. Some of them looked like oil paintings rather than photos.

Hpw long did you have to wait for some of those butterfly shots? They are incredible.

a2zmom - How long? Like . . until they land LOL - 30 seconds? THAT one just went from garden to garden to garden in a triangle - it was big. Them and the bumblebees are very busy but NOTHING like when the Asters bloom.

This time of year I constantly see at least one Monarch flying around.

Side note - my photography is not liked by all - it has a surreal look which has become sort of a "style". That is why I call them "images".

LOL! My husband photographs my butterflies for me and sometimes they are very stubbirn. Today, he chased one around as it went from my phlox to my verbena to my buddleia.

Oh, I am still hoping you can list the plants you used. Some of them I can't quite figure out.
