Coneflower seeding

Last week I planted 3 seed packs of native purple coneflowers at my lake house, following ALL the careful steps that will give those seeds the very best chance at germinating. Now at my home (80 miles North) my mature coneflowers have developed many seed heads that I deadheaded today. I shook the tons of seeds into the same bed, hoping to have a thicker coneflower planting next year. Here's the question:

The seeds I scattered fell onto a bed of cypress mulch... so I wonder if I should maybe stir the mulch up, so that some of the seeds will have soil contact? It's likely a dumb question I know... but if I had smart questions I'd likely know all the answers!

I dunno... maybe rain or normal watering will naturally move those seeds downward to the ground, and for all I know they may need a bit of sun on them for a few days.
