Learning the hard way: AV's need light to flower

I have a pair of NOID's that were rescued from Lowe's a few years back. They live near an east-facing window and bloomed nicely for the first year or so, but haven't flowered in over a year. They've been growing slowly, but no flowers.

A few weeks back it finally clicked as to what was happening - the lack of flowers and lanky leaf stalks pointed to a lack of light. They were being shaded by another big houseplant that had grown larger, and I needed to direct the light through the new window blinds onto the AV's instead of having it go over them into the room.

So, I moved the larger plant and directed the light through the blinds down onto the plants. A few weeks later, both have flower buds developing in the crown of the plant - it's amazing how much difference a bit of light can make!
